Just for curiosity sake..what would happen if they were a 'couple' days old, could you still give it to them? I ask because I don't know...I have access to a animal supply place, I could get it to them in the 'day-old' time frame...just curious as to why it has to be that way.

Well, I don't know. For whatever reason, I never thought about that. So I just researched it a little. It was kind of hard to find a decent answer. The answer I did find should not be taken as absolute though because as far as I know, the person who wrote it is not an avian vet or vet of any kind, actually. But here is what he said:

The myth is that you can only vaccinate day old chicks. You can actually vaccinate your birds at any age. The difference is that as every day goes by, you run a greater risk of your birds being exposed to the virus before you have a chance to vaccinate. Two more myths are that you can’t mix vaccinated and unvaccinated chicks together and that you can give your flock Mareks by exposing them to vaccinated chicks. Since the Mareks vaccine is actually the Turkey virus, you cannot give your birds Mareks by vaccinating. Also, vaccinated chicks cannot hurt unvaccinated chicks by mixing them together. My personal practice is to ‘booster’ my adults every year when I vaccinate my chicks – day old or otherwise.

I have heard that too, multiple times.

Thank you for the vac info. very interesting! I think a trip to the supply place then..., it also has a vet office connected to it. Will have to pick a few brains while I am there. ..*Wing, is it just newspaper?, because of the ink? making things slippery... Would 'packing' paper be okay?, it is shredded. If not, not a problem. I will come up with something else. Oh, I have paper towels...forgot to put those down...

Lol, that's about the way it is here also. Bwhaaaaaa

this is the side view of the addition to the dresser coop I have been working on. As you can see it still is not done!

I found some linoleum so I will cut that to fit the floor.

the big opening will be secured with a big door so I can clean the back deck. The opening in the back will be partly a window of hardware cloth and partly closed up with wood.

I have two tall posts ........and will add two more...........I am trying to figure out how to do the roof thing.............

My computer is not making downloading pictures very easy so I will try again in another post.

Looking good!..I can see where you are going with it!.I think it is a good start design, but you know when the 'math' kicks in..oh, and it will,( I am already suffering from the side effects of this terrible disease

)..you will say, "should have gone BIGGER"..hahaha If you want a visual of a 'lean-to, I have pics in my profile...under "new coop". My coop has one. Now, it is on a bigger scale , but I know it's the lay out that is important, not size. You can make pretty much anything smaller/bigger.
Lol, that's about the way it is here also. Bwhaaaaaa
