Okay, I am going to go strip the floor now. I think I will cut around the fish tank. No sense messing with emptying it, moving it, filling it ...
Thank you for the opinions!

The beautiful floor we all liked so much isn't what I thought it was.

It is a floor with various colored beams, and painted on the outer edge, then fake wood flooring all around the border of the room.

I've seen some crazy stuff when we ripped up carpeting but that is crazy! When was the house built? I'm pretty sure my silkie is broody. I put the eggs in the nest when she was out eating today. Fingers crossed they are fertile. The rooster went missing 2 weeks ago (I think).

The house was built in 1941. There is a good chance the eggs are fertile.

I just went out and my leghorn rooster and hen are on topof the coop roof and won't come down. I had no choice but to lock the run up and leave them :( the rest of the hens are inside. I smell skunk so maybe they are the reason it sprayed and they are hiding? I will be heartbroken if something happens to them. I can't reach them and nothing is working to lure them down.

I've been told and have seen it in a few houses that it was a luxury back then to have carpet. The house we own now was built in the 60's. has gorgeous hardwood floors that have always been mostly covered. Instead of wall to wall carpet, they would carpet all of the rooms except the outside border. We need to refinish our floors bc the floors are worn/faded unevenly because of this.

any chance you could sand it all and then stain it?? I really want to rip up the carpet in this place but I am scared too lol I haven't even snuck a peek at what is underneath it - you have made me want to look now lol

So when I went outside this morning to let the girls out I saw their feeder was knocked over (stupid me left it out overnight last night, I know i know it will attract something) and I didn't really think too much of it as I was still in shock mr 4yr old was still sleeping.

I went out tonight to lock the girls up and I saw the feeder again and it dawned on me "something got into it" - it's one of those ones where the base that screws on to the plastic bottle comes apart (2 bits make up the bottom bit IYKWIM) - so even though the girls are locked up tight, something came in for a snack, isn't too hard for a creature to do as their run isn't all covered and enclosed.

Might see how much $$ I have left after bills and shopping tomorrow and might look at getting a trap.
