One of my older roosters seems to be a bit under the weather, do not want to give drugs just yet, but was thinking of making him some oatmeal in the morning, I have a bunch of banan's starting to go bad, just wondering if hey can have these, never gave them any before...

I checked them as we took them out of the carrier. They're all clipped. The only one I still need to clip is Elvis our scovy boy, I have a feeling that's going to be a trick and a half...

We have chopped up bananas into oatmeal before, some of the birds love the bananas, others ignored them. So depends on the bird.
or another thing we did was raisins in the oatmeal...You can also try yogurt and scrambled eggs.

be very careful with the llama, had one from a baby and one evening when he was around 7 yrs old, he turned nasty, knocked my husband down five times before he called me on his cell to come back him off (llama) so he could get out of the pasture, after that he never turned sweet again and after a year with him trying to hurt us, my husband put him down. essay was not a super tame llama either, we never made a pet out of him. when they decide they're going to turn on you, doesn't matter if they're tame or not, they just turn and yes he had a female llama that was his "wife"

The only reason I am looking at the llamas is they are supposedly great for alpaca herds for protection, especially from dogs, coyotes etc. I'd be doing a lot more research before getting any of either though. Thanks for the info and heads up.

I have 2 tetr's and only one goes broody, but she does it often.

Ok, we have several, but I couldn't find much on them.

I've made sure all our other flyers are too. Too much time, money and love in them to just have them take off LOL. I'm gonna need it he's a hefty boy and it hurt like a mother when he whacked me with his wing a month ago...

Seth said no to the ostriches but he hasn't technically said no to emus in the future hehehe. I'd really like some alpaca and a llama to help with protection.

To add to the chicken fever. I only wanted 4 I now have 8. And I am not sure some spring that I will be able to tell myself no when I see all the chicks in the store......

I have a question?! Is it normal for my chickies to be lazy now that the days are getting longer and colder? They wont come out till later in the morning...like 10-11 am. Sometimes some of them will be roosting in their coop during the day while others are out free ranging.

I've noticed this with a few of our girls too Brittany. I think, but I could be wrong, that it is because of the light and weather changes. It's only a few of our girls far and not always the same ones, but there are some that come out later and later.


Ugh I can't sleep again. It doesn't help that I'm stoked to be picking up the Seramas in the morning. The guy I'm getting them from is so nice, and was giving them away to a good home since he was running out of room. I'm very happy with the ones we got from him so far, and he's happy with the layers I traded for them (although he didn't ask for anything, I just didn't feel right taking them for nothing.)
Gavin's super excited to have chicks running around again!!! I'll post pics of the new fluffy butts as soon as they're settled in, Now I guess I should try to get some sleep...
