Hey! Haven't been here in forever.... Life's been keeping me very busy! Anyway, my rooster, Mr Green Jeans has started sneezing, seems to be eating, pooping and chasing the ladies as normal, but I'm worried about him getting or if he has some kind of virus I should be treating for... Any advice? Thanks in advance, I look forward to catching up with everyone.

hey folks....looks like on of my eggs has hatched...five more to go....just pushed mama out of the way for a peek...she was not happy....

I have 8 nest boxes available to about 14 hens and they ALL lay in the ONE box. I your case, I would stick with at least 2, because all that 'No, really, I'm going to stick with my plan of only 4 birds and not be tempted by sweet fluffy chicks or beautiful multi colored eggs, or stunning laced plumage' talk is not fooling me for a second. We've all sung that song before. Right Danielle?

Well, darlin, it didn't look like your are in any need of enabling, looks like someone beat me to it, you have plenty of poultry at your place! I sure hope that guy works out for you, I hope he's not just one more mouth to feed.

It gets better...I texted my neighbor that a new chick had arrived.....she brought her 8yr old son over...so, I open the nesting box and lift mama out of the way so he could see the babe....and when I letting her back down, a second egg cracked open in front of us....I opened it the rest of the way and #2 was up and running....took some pics then I pushed #2 under mama....pretty nice experience for the boy....and his mom was quick enough to snape a photo....
