Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Off to the lab to get more bloodwork done on my son. My younger son is home with pink-eye. Hismdoctor said pink-eye is going around our area. :

Both of my kids just got over pink-eye! Good luck!

Does anyone in the Barnesville area have laying hens for sale? I have Buff Brahma banties now, I would like the same, but I realize these are not easy to find. If you don't have that breed, what do you have?

Thanks,

Michelle

Hello all-------------Just a little question

When buying a lamp for my first brooder pen..............I see the reflector part and read in this forum that some use 100watt bulbs.......

but I thought people also use a RED light to decrease pecking at blood.

So my question is........is the red bulb just colored red or

is it a red heat lamp bulb?

as you can see I am new to this.

I may be getting the lamp and bulb as a gift to myself in prep for spring chicks!

and start to set up a brooder pen............but I think that will be pretty easy since I can not have too many.
I used a large dog cage as a brooder,( large box inside-taken out when chicka got bigger), I had a grow lamp that kicked out the heat..enough to take it to 90*..I would always suggest a thermometer. We just clamped it to the top, of the cage, at one end-done. They had plenty of room to get away. My light was normal, not red..I didn't notice an issue with them...although they did sleep then in the am..humm, will get a red light next time.
We kept the cage in the office..it had a normal room temp.
