I am hoping PA is wrong with the 90 day testing so I dont have to do it that often, but I have a feeling after reading all AI requirements on the federal provisions they are correct under every subpart possibility that its listed. I searched the AI and AI 5-7 same for all.

I went back and forth between the vet, health inspector and our state rep on the same issue because it came up with another person from NC. So we covered that AI crap well! and then on our lab forms it has that the AI 5-7 is for NON breeders and that brought up an entire new set of questions LOL We went round and round on many issues along the way.

What they need to do is make separate provisions for backyard flock owners be it less than 60 birds or whatever, its just nuts and scares everyone away!

technically you cannot free range as anything you do that doesnt fall under their provisions will void your testing and inturn void your NPIP status.  I know most just dont listen to the guidelines, but after having several hours conversation with the health inspector here and some of the disease he ran into I am not sure I WONT follow their guidelines. Its so easy for them to pick stuff up, but again thats why we test every 90 days.  Yes we covered our runs with cheap bush netting and let me tell you its hanging low from all this ice, a temp fix to pass inspection.  

I am sure your clean Blarney if you have an enclosed area when the inspector comes, fresh water food, screened windows and such, rodent control and your birds look good you will NOT have an issue.  I am thinking Chris would be your health inspector and also your field test inspector for the CPT, if you go through this I suggest while chris is there you do the blood draw even if you didnt have nans course yet! He was here and now he has to run all the way back out just for that. I didnt know he was the same go to guy at the time!  

The paperwork is done on my end and I have the word files to edit, and yours will look exactly like mine so its a simple email to Nan, Chris will do the rest for you!  I have questioned that provisions book over and over and even Harrisburg is confused with alot of it! Its all in who reads it and what they get out of it!  But after Chad figuring out the labwork paperwork and Nan finishing up my application and forms it was a fast process.  The cpt course helped me with understanding the lab paperwork which we were a tad confused on so I wrote notes all over my example paperwork so I wouldnt forget them!

You dont HAVE to do the hatchery and do the AI clean every 90 but I highly suggest it. And you started to show not?

Like I said Bobbie you will have the the same subpart, E, independent hatchery and same testing and you are good to go. If you go to the pdf of the provisions go to the second or third index and look for the sanitation section, its fairly simple and alot is void because we are so small. Like I said, clean coops, screened windows covered runs and even the covered runs you may or may not get away with, I put that cheap stuff over mine anyway, plus I was sick of the CCL flying out all the time.

That's what Ohio does. I'm certified under the small flock guidelines, not as a hatchery. If I certified as a hatchery (which I don't have anywhere near the 3,000 birds they classify as hatchery) then I would have to ai test every 90 days.

Sally my white ones are getting more color as they get older but the one is piglet!!! He is almost double the size of everyone else!!!!

I gotcha, your are NPIP Cert but the AI testing in Ohio as it is in PA is optional.  I cannot purchase anything from you because you are no AI clean. that sucks.  And there is no "small flock anything in NPIP" its just subparts, and you follow under a certain one, probably E would be my guess.

Pullorum testing is the baseline participation level and is required yearly.   Some of our NPIP members then choose to participate in Avian Influenza testing, MG testing, etc.  Some may choose to AI test yearly to monitor their flocks or others may choose to participate in the AI Clean certification program.  [/COLOR]

If I read the paperwork right, you can get birds from anywhere as long as they are quarantined until tested. You may want to check on that. I know that's how Ohio does it but I know each state differs.

Awwww! I love them all! Is that one a boy? My last litter of springers two where always fighting with that status! they have finally reached 20lbs and then are almost 4 months now. Nothing beats pups, at least if you can tolerate all that poo!!

how did momma do? no issues with retained placentas? My Maddy girl retains almost all of them, I need to research this as the running to vet for Oxy is a major pain! But she could die if I didnt give her shots afterwards. I may join a forum for that and see what info I can pull.

That is where the state steps in and Nan said to call her and she will work with us to get through if someone isnt, but she also said just dont make it a common practice

All I want yet is blue andalusians from excellent stock, but silky you know how that works, after I have them then I want something else!

My problem is the hatching, I am addicted to it and love to hatch all sorta birds and now I cant incubate stuff I love to, like ducks! I will basically be hatching what I have unless I get into it like Bruce and get stuff in from other hatcheries and hatch and sell. or hatch for other hatcheries. oh well it will work out in the end, everything usually ends someway right! lol

My favorite all time is hatching serama and saras ancona, even the scovy were cool to hatch!
