I went on my morning feed, water, egg run to all the chicken pens, I cant get through any gates!! Not only frozen latches and hinges, but the entire gates are stuck to the ground in the snow and ice! I cant dig them out!! What a site in the pouring down feezing rain!! I have access to the front of the layer coop and the White faced Spanish but the Brahama are on their own until Daddo takes the digging iron to them! Good Grief!

Still getting ice here & already a good 6-8 inches on the ground. Supposed to get a mix of snow, ice & rain hete until noon or so.

silkie, where do you live now? trying to figure out what its like at home now.

7.5" here in western Lycoming. Sleety stuff now, supposed to get more snow later.

yes I am sure it could be made............but I think I have too many diy projects at this time and it seems that some of the products out there are quite good.

the features seem to matter quite a bit.

the wattage,   and type of air circulation etc...........

on the other hand I know some people have some nice results with drying racks using the sun for heat!

I think in this situation I want to buy a dehydrator...............and am just looking into the different types etc. now

I have a Nesco. It worked good for drying out peppers.

Take a pot of hot water out and dump it on the bottom... Your gonna have ice either way

silkie, where do you live now? trying to figure out what its like at home now.

I'm almost 2 hours west of Wheeling, WV now. Near Zanesville, Oh, which puts me just south east of the center of Ohio.

Needed a shovel here to get the coop door open.

Took these out my windows a few minutes ago. About 80% of that is ice balls.

Ditto. Pretty here, but I don't want to go out. At midnight the salt trucks were just getting loaded so it was slow going. Roads from the highway had one set of tire tracks.
