Same exact thing happened this evening as I described yesterday. I took a picture of it:

You can clearly see the correct path back, but yet they can't figure it out. They think that one ways a path but they won't walk in snow so that obviously doesn't work. I carried two into the coop and the one flew across the snow again but made it this time

This looks like my yard! Just add a few 10 feet section of path that are luge like. Thanks for the laugh!

@PapaRoo.. Thanks for the link for the mud sales, looks like fun.

Just wanted to share we came up with a couple names so far. Still having a hard time naming the twins and the other yellow girl lol. I swear they already grew some today since we brought them home! Just a question, the two red and the two yellow ones were listed as assorted pullets, any clue what breeds they could possibly be?

From color & the way they had them marked they are likely red & gold sex-links, production birds.

Can someone help me please!!! I am stumped and very upset. The past 2 days ive lost 3 hens all the same way. Both mornings I have walked into the chicken coop and found my henss dead. Their vent was freakishly wide open and all their insides are gone. Their heads are still intact but there is no sign of
struggle or anything . Any insight or help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have a game camera that you can set up inside the coop?
