Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I thought she was gonna die, and I still can't rule that out, but she's doing way better. She's still a bit out of it, but she goes out with to other hens and eats and drinks now

Sounds like she will pull through! :D

Thanks...this only happens when this kind of severe weather happens, and then the water table has to be already at a high point/full.  Something that only happens every couple years..last time was 3-years ago, so i really can't complain too much. I am so glad the rain has stopped here, I hope it won't stay too long in your area! This is really going to make the grass grow..hahaha, as soon as that sun pops out, we are all going to here the mowers! hahahah
Just a heads up to all, I know you all are probably conscious of this already, but the ticks are already at it...I took one off the puppy three weeks ago, now Ceasar has one..poor thing, it's on his muzzle...ouch!    Make sure your checking your animals and yourselves!! :old Have a good-dry day everyone!

Should we check chicken for ticks? I thought chickens ate ticks. Hhmmmm...thanks for the reminder!

Congrats!

Okay, so my stupid little chickens keep going out from underneath the coop and now they are pretty well soaked. I know it's still pretty warm outside, but when should I consider the old blowdry treatment? Those silly girls....

Good question on the ticks..i guess when you do your "hen-checks"..look for anything..icky..hahahaha...
** FarmerMike-Glad to hear your girl is doing better, fingers crossed she pulls through 100%

It's still raining pretty good here. The "pond/swamp" at the end of my road has flooded over my road. Fun fun fun. I have pulled a few ticks off of my cat and dog already as well. Only my female dog had the ticks, she has really thick fur as well.

I went to a mill down in by Hershey once, way too long of a ride for me. The feed smelt like chocolate all the way home. Mark Hersey feed mill, I don't know if that is close to York County. I think this is the website. http://www.markhersheyfarms.com/.
I love the smell when we do drive through Hershey...I love going to the Zoo..we do the Free days in January, so cool to go through there in the winter..the animals are very active believe it or not...

Same thing with my basement here. No problems, just run the pump a little.

As for ticks, took two off me this week, not attached. One big one, one deer tick. Part of living in the country, although I think I had more issues when I lived in a development.

Good morning everyone! Please wish us luck. Yesterday we got our poop boards covered with linoleum and temporary walls up to cover the holes for the nest boxes and the other door opening. We're hoping to get the roosts put in place and painted this morning and move everyone outside later today. We just can't wait anymore, they've outgrown their brooder. I always leave it open during the day so they can have more room and hang out either inside or on the top. Well yesterday, my daughter came out to the coop to get me and show me the chicks. There were 5 of them "free ranging" around the garage floor led by our little bantam roo, Chip lol. I guess I Should've expected that to happen eventually but after 3 weeks of them just hanging out on top, it surprised me lol. Chip cracks me up. My husband claims that he suffers from "little man syndrome". He's always the one crowing and strutting around like the king and never afraid of anything. The other boys put him in his place anytime he tries challenging them but he just keeps acting like the boss all the time lol.

.....oh, and GOOD LUCK!
I put the last of the turkeys out yesterday. I am so happy this morning, it isn't funny! No stink, no complaining to go out, "we spilled the water " or "we're awake! We wanna make noise!" They are happy in their new pen next to the chickens. I was surprised they weren't roosting last night. I think that will come when their pen isn't so new to them.
so now that the kids are out of the house...what are ya gonna hatch?

you know..even though we live in "the woods"...never had them this early..not in the back yard. What i think is having so many rabbits in the yard is not helping the situation. There is nothing so invested with fleas & ticks as a wild rabbit, I have handled many(yes, with gloves) and unfortunately, they are were we are & our animals...of course this year there are more rabbits than I know we have ever had! The predators are going to do well this year.
I don't even want to think about ticks on me...blah..Todd had to get one off my back a few years ago...that did NOT feel good enough to repeat!

Can anyone tell me how the sale works at the Green Dragon tomorrow? If I bring chickens to sell do they have cages to put them in or do I need boxes of my own to put them in to sell? Thanks

Here are a couple pictures of inside the coop. DH will be finishing things up this weekend while we're away and they get to go in on Monday morning. I didn't get any pictures of the garage free ranging lol but that's the little culprit there that was leading the others around lol.
