LMP, I haven't been by there recently. I did hit Walmart on Monday but went via 220 rather than 150. Saturday was spent up in Potter County at Cherry Springs Park for the Milky Way thing they had. Went with my sister and her teen girl. Wow, what a sight. No light pollution. Beautiful sky.

I am getting about 4 eggs a day now. Dunno what to do with them all! Have a quiche in the freezer already. 2 doz eggs in the refrigerator. And I am learning to can. Our pear and apple trees produced a lot this summer.

My little rooster was home today! He didn't get eaten yesterday

You could pickle the eggs. Pears and apple?! I'm jealous.. :drool

DS decided to 'help' this morning by doing chores before he got on the bus....so he opens al the brooders and then steps inside to say 'hey Mom, I can hear an owl!' Yes, indeed, you can hear the Great Horned Owls in the woods just above our coops, still dark out and my youngest birds all out. Arrrrgh! I'm taking this as a sign to stop, have coffee out back with my babies and watch the sun rise.

me too, my pears and cherries never set ......neighbor had 6 large trees taken down yesterday and will be planting a buch of apple trees to replace them (I'm hoping to get some of the extras!)....

that's exactly what we're planning to do, hopefully next year. We also have about 6 that need to go. Not only do they block the sun from hitting the garden but they surround the area where we want to put our little orchard. We were hopeing to do it this year but it didn't work out. Oh well, fire wood for next year look.

Auror:

My tandem broodies will not give up....I removed the eggs yesterday and both sat a day on in empty box....then moved today where another girl laid and egg...I gave up and gave them 5 to sit on....they are a determined pair....

lol, it's so funny how determined they are to sit. I kicked Cookie out yesterday because I found a rubber mat/cushion thing that would fit prefect in the bottom of the box. Since she's so tiny, she dogs a hole in the straw and lays pretty much on the linoleum floor on the eggs, I thought it would make a great cushion. Well, she plopped or of the box and hunkered down right where she landed lol. I had to go IN the coop and put her back on the lip of the box. ... then she ambled back to her eggs and cuddled them up again lol. I'm loving all this broody stuff.

We're going on an adventure this Saturday morning out towards harrisburg (Newport) to pick up our feed for the winter. We're picking up 1000 lbs of organic and 10 gallons raw ACV lol. I think we'll be set for winter and part of spring. Plus we'll have some starter and grower ready :)

Lmp, my grand babies are adorable.
My heating oil arrived this morning. It usually gets here at eight. I figured this early in the season (which they said starts in October) it would be later. No such luck. They were here at seven, and the guy asked if I had been in bed. If he hadn't gone right on talking, I would have done "here's your sign". He was complaining about the name of the town. Behind my house is one town, about a mile down another... It was not an argument I wanted to have, but he apparently thought I named the towns, and placed my house wrong.
In any event, I now have oil. Woo hoo!

don't you just love when the kids (and sometimes even hubby) decide to "help"? Enjoy your coffee and keep those feather babies safe!

I love it when the oil is all filled up. Then you can just sit back, relax, and not worry about it anymore lol
