Hi and welcome from the Poconos!Collegeville pa here
Hi there, and nice to meet you. Ours are coming from Holderread's. Depending what quality you're looking for, they might still have some that aren't reserved yet. Cute doggie, and beautiful drake!Hey everyone! Long time no see! Things have been very busy here with school startup, a new coop, and new additions. Not in the flock though.Meet Ellie. Her mom (black lab mix) came to the shelter pregnant. That means no one knows who dad is.
We love her so much anyways![]()
Welcome to everyone that is new
Where are you getting your call ducks? We bought a "girlfriend" for my lonely drake, and she turned out to be a boyfriend. I'd like to hatch ducklings in the spring
.
WHAT!!? Another drake? After all that searching you did.... What a bummer. If there is any way you can get to the Lebanon Show this coming Saturday, there are over 80 Call Ducks entered! Which means lots of breeders and quality birds. If you can't get there, perhaps someone in your area would bring you back a hen? - kind of a 'chicken Train, but with a duck instead.Hey everyone! Now there's some welcome cuteness to start my Sunday off right!! Welcome to everyone that is new
Where are you getting your call ducks? We bought a "girlfriend" for my lonely drake, and she turned out to be a boyfriend. I'd like to hatch ducklings in the springI posted this in the free rehoming forum, but I thought it would be a good idea to post it here as well since this thread is specific to PA. I hope no one minds me posting it here. If you do, please just let me know and I'll remove it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We need to find new, good homes for part of our flock. We are going to start showing and breeding Call ducks, and those plus the ducks we have now will put us considerably over the limit our township allows on property our size. I posted this on our local Craig's List about three weeks ago and got quite a few responses, but unfortunately none I felt comfortable about. The last guy who called (tonight) was excited because he loves duck...for dinner. I had specifically put in my ad that these are backyard or farm ducks, not meat ducks. I even went so far as to look into buying part of the lots of the neighbors on each side of us, but their lots are already at the minimum size allowed in this subdivisionAnyway, the ones we need to rehome are: Two Ancona drakes hatched April 7th. Anconas are on the critically endangered list. Three Buff Orpington hens about a year old and great egg layers. Our current ducklings are from these. Buffs are on the threatened list. Four Buff ducklings, three female, one male, hatched August 20th. They don't all have to go to the same home, they just all have to go to a good home. I can't ship them, but I could deliver them if you live within around 20 miles, or meet you half way if you're somewhat farther away than that. Please let me know if you'd like pictures of any of them or if you have any questions. Thanks so much.

Thank you everyone for your kind comments about our Ellie Bellie. Yes, after all of my hard searching. I went to a chicken swap this morning not expecting to find any call ducks, and there were so many to choose from. There were more than I've ever seen at a swap at one time. One guy was selling a silver Appleyard trio that was beautiful for 60 dollars. I love Silver Appleyard, Snowy, and Grey call drakes, but I like Chuck and Tuck moreAww congrats on your new family member, She is a cutie!Hey everyone! Long time no see! That looks really nice. I would have thought it was store-bought. You must be pretty handy! I do well to get a nail in the wall straight when I'm hanging a picture.
Nice and sturdy looking coop.......................Do you have some ventilation spaces not pictured? Or is it just leave the door open to get air in the daytime?
Reading goat ads I came across this one on Craigslist.
Gotta respect truth in advertising.
"Male goat, a little over a year old. Named "Mean ***" nicknamed "Ouch ******." He's friendly occasionally, likes having his belly scratched and eats out of your hand."
This is awesome! Would love to get my hands on this.
The gray area below the roof and above the door is hardware clothe, always open. I can keep the door open on the side not pictured for cross ventilation that pulls from bottom to top but not directly on the roosts. Ventilation is everything in the winter especially.
Go get him, sounds perfect for you...when you have a bad day at work, you can go out and butt heads with him.![]()
Oh My Gosh! When the Big Guy had his tendon repair surgery on his hand, the PT afterward included hot/warm wax, probably paraffin. I guess it helped.
Cute pup, ChippysMom.
LMP, it looks like I have the Not My Grandchildevery other weekend. We so need to arrange a play date. She went into where the temporary pen was today and said "I'm a chicken. Bwaak Bwaak bwaak". She wears me out.![]()
here we go on the "chicken train" again..WHAT!!? Another drake? After all that searching you did.... What a bummer. if you weren't 3 1/2 hours away from me, I'd be all over that. That would be such an awesome start for a second coop or even an extention to the one I have
Relax Momma! Those eggs are fine. I once had eggs sit out on a counter top for 3 DAYS! Just at the end of the hatch and they ALL hatched. I was very surprised and impressed. It was a rather large hatch and after candling somehow a carton of eggs got missed and did not go back in the incubator. So upset right nowday 20 for Cookie's eggs and I come home from being out all day and she's on the wrong nest
I'm trying to be hopeful but the eggs were cold. I'm thinking that we may have lost them all. I want to candle tonight but they're all dark eggs. How long should I wait for them to hatch to give them a chance before tossing them?
