ahhhh, okay, see I leanerded somethin' new right there! hahaha, you can smack me nowLMP I am just cheap, cost to much to feed all store bought when I have fields full of what I need.
And yes I use grower instead of layer feed for the extra protein
hahaha..new things sometimes throw them "off", but i think chickens are "off" to begin with so.....hahaa...yeah, keep the lids off your jars, don't want exploding messes..I didn't stir mine that often, just when I thought of it or was around to do it....not saying YOU shouldn't , just what I did.![]()
Your chickens may or may not go GAGA over it at first,..sometimes they will hog it like they have never been fed...other times, like some have noted, they look at it like "I am supposed to eat that?!"...just give it to them, when they get hungry enough, they WILL eat it..believe me and it won't take that long either..hahaha
The temps. do make a difference in how quickly your mixture starts to ferment...maybe keep it soe where a "bit" warmer to start..then when you start to smell it..then move it..that way you know it has begone to do it's "thing"...JMO anyway......good luck with your brew!!!![]()
your all fancy-smanschy!!....do you use the grower mash for the protein?...i am a little slow here![]()

wet/damp= mold.....but fermented is a good thing..as good ol' Martha Steward would sayOkay thank you!!I was a little worried about this since we were always told not to feed chickens wet/damp feed! Right now the dogs are going nuts for her..chicken feed is like crack for the pooches. I think my sussex will be the first to eat it, she's a pig. She's the first one to eat anything! except of course the ear of corn..

didn't thibnk it was too cold out there...until i washed everything & filled waters...yeah, hands are rebelling. It is what it is. Your time = $$, either way, we pay..right?!I often am feeding numbers in the hundred, I cut cost everywhere possible, it hhonestlyh it would be so much easier to breed 100% from the mill....I put in man extra hours storing and mixing feed.
Hands are not working today, hard to type
That is awesome that everyone was rehomed for you!The birds are all gone. The couple that have the chicken hens and breeding trio of Bourbon Reds were very happy with how all the birds look. The couple brought two toms to their place to butcher, but came back with money. A friend of theirs lost his tom a day or so ago, and he couldn't get over how gorgeous my boys are.No one went to freezer camp.![]()
Good bye, everyone. I will KIT.
