I have 3 empty feed bags if you want them, Anne. I knew someone here wanted them, so they're stacking up in my garage next to my recycle pile.
I would love them but I think I am too far. I am 40 minutes north of Philly in Bucks county.

she is very smart and very curious..tries to follow me out the fencing all the time, she thinks she is a "people"...LMP:
Both my BCMs have this look....one actually refuses to eat scratch off the ground if I have some in my hands...she insanely keeps jumping up to grab some out of the cup.....the broody is only slightly more sane because she has a babe to look after....they are nuts...but, the smartest birds in the flock....go figure....
see, this right here just makes me want to cry.....oh craigs list..how can you be so cruel?!Free pallets anyone?https://lancaster.craigslist.org/zip/4727092492.html

Stake, I know why your girls are jumping up. I won't say why. But I know.![]()
I recently tried quail eggs and found that I liked them a lot. I thought they tasted a little different than chicken eggs, but not in a bad way. Perhaps with a bit of a gamey flavor. We are quite a distance from you. I am in 17967. We travel a bit and are discussing a trip down towards Maryland and Virginia before Thanksgiving. If we are going to be close to your zip during our travels maybe we can arrange a drop off!
My dad is sometimes getting 2-3 dozen quail eggs a day, so we have no shortage. We visit them at least once a week and he always sends us home with a couple dozen!
Love the Momma pics Blarney!
I was looking through some old photos, posted these pics of my best girl and broody extroidinaire, 'Popcorn'. Love this girl to pieces.
So the turkeys got out of their pen tonight, one is roosting on the house, the other 3 were on the porch railing, I wrested one down and had him most of the way to the coop before remembering I'm not supposed to be lifting anything. I sure hope I didn't set myself back.
I do not think our Wyandotte coop got closed up tonight, I'm going to venture out there and have a look see.
always "hand wash" your silkies...Well, today is going to be new Silkie washing day. Wish me luck! These girls don't seem to have been handled much, so I am expecting a lot of splashing. It's times like this I wish I had a laundry tub. But I'm thankful I have new free little chickens to tend to.![]()
hey...i was reading in my pressure canner hand book...ahem...that you can "can" fried chicken...yep-yep, that is what I read, soooo..If you want to know more..you have to callThe big excitement about this canner is the ability to have food in the truck that I cooked. Before, I would freeze everything, and DH would be able to eat my cooking for a week. Now... It is funny that I finally have the canner, and I am going with him. I do cook in the truck. I even have a little grill that we used to cook on quite often, We will have to find a new one.
I have spent the last hour thinking about the bone-in chicken, and I have to ask. Is there any reason I can't season the meat any way I want before canning? I mean, can I go so far as to use Shake n Bake? I was originally thinking I wanted to put parmesan on the chicken. Now I am making myself very hungry thinking of all I want to do to the chicken (ahem! Not how I meant that to come out)!
Until she lays her first egg and starts singing. Unless you can make that noise on a regular basis to get him used to it . . .![]()
