While on the mend, DH has been a busy little beaver...
The 'chicken' door had been made and the gaps along the edges of the coop have been enclosed.
the windows are being caulked today...
Has been a few days since we have had any eggs..finally Chick-a-dee has laid in the nest box!! , i think not having to keep the big door open helps the whole egg laying privacy thing..

...Hope these girls start to pick-up on the egg laying

Bad day for me physically, thought I would warm the house and myself with the oven running, and I got a new angel food cake pan out of a box from an auction, $2 junk box and the pan still has the stickers on it..now if I can figure out how to make one

No angel food recipe here. I agree with the hard day physically part. This cool damp weather does not go well with bad joints, barely able to vary a water jug. Stupid wrist. Never been right since I ran it into that machine a few years ago, lol

I knows to not angel food cake, but I saw this recipe today. Uses a slow cooker and a dozen eggs. I'm sure it could be modified. Hope it gives you some ideas!

When did you get your new set of meaties? What kind did you get? When will they approx. be ready? Will you need help processing?

Question for the more experienced....came home this evening to find my OE girl sleeping in a nesting box with one of her eggs under her...Is is possible for a girl to go broody this late in the season? She has never slept in a nesting box and there was room on the roost for her....???

I have broodies year round.
She may have just laid the egg late in the day and decided to stay there for night, especially with it getting dark so early.
I have a few sleeping in there lately also, but I have weird chickens
