Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

While on the mend, DH has been a busy little beaver...
The 'chicken' door had been made and the gaps along the edges of the coop have been enclosed.
the windows are being caulked today...
Has been a few days since we have had any eggs..finally Chick-a-dee has laid in the nest box!! , i think not having to keep the big door open helps the whole egg laying privacy thing..

...Hope these girls start to pick-up on the egg laying

..
Some pics of the coop progress..

there is a eye-hook latch to keep the door closed..

door works awesome!!

all the edges are now covered and ready for the "future" siding!

Looking good! I have been wanting a "pop door" but couldn't figure where to put it. Never thought of making one that opened to the outside on the coop door. Thanks for the idea! Now to find someone to do it for me!!!

Tell me what you know
How to debone them, never did that and still keep them whole
Is it good, is it worth the work,
Just my mind wandering, but hey, I do have all the ingredients

Must get my slow, tired butt in gear today, processing for CC(ray) today and 4 ducks for customers. I am beginning to dislike ducks, they are so much harder to process, took me a year for people to be willing to pay the extra price for them, and now every one wants duck.

Been a long day. The mass was removed this morning and sent to pathology. (Not before I asked to see it though). Results in 2 weeks.
I'm very sore and the painkillers are very little help. I chose to be awake for the procedure which may have been the weirdest experience ever.
boy, you sure are brave to be awake when it was done. hope you get well fast.

Good luck. Feel better and try to take it easy.

Just got back last night from being away for a few days. My husband was surprised I waited over a half hour before checking on my girls in the dark. Haha! I still have two girls roosting on my bikes on the porch, and the silkies still go to the porch to roost too.

Was talking to my neighbor, and he has an old rabbit hutch he was going to chuck. It needs some tuning up, but I asked him if I could use it instead for a separate Silkie coop. I will only be using about half of the rabbit cage, but I think it's just what I need. Yay free stuff!!

Wing:

Know very little...there was a "Dirty Jobs Episode" on this and they showed a guy de-boning chickens in minutes....and showed the process...if you can find that online, you'd have the process.....

Oh boy you're brave! Hope your pain subsides and the pathology is negative!

@LMP not sure what the 'list' is in profiles, but apparently, I have zero.

I haven't figured out what I'm doing yet.

I am hesitant to completely depopulate as it will not guarantee eradication of the disease. We do not buy in chicks or birds, so the disease must have come from the wild bird population, and I obviously can't control that. I'm also not ready to say, well, we will just not have any poultry here...ever again. I know for sure that all of the Wyandotte will be culled as that is the pen where the sick bird was. We just started with the Wyandotte 2 years ago, but It's hard to throw away years of breeding and selecting of the Olive Eggers, Marans and Orpingtons. We have some favorites that we do NOT want to part with either...no easy solution to this.

My daughter had a complication after being discharged from HUP, we weren't home 4 hours and were right back in the ER. Chester County hospital this time, so much closer to home. 3 days there and she's finally home again and looking awesome! I really appreciate all the support you've given me and ll the prayers for Devan. They seem to be working.

Blarney, still sending daily hugs, I can not imagine your stress level with all of this.

Anyone here with bantam Orpington, I am doing a large new year's hatch and this is one of the breeds that I found eggs close by for. I had Orpington year's ago and found the rooster's to be mostly mean. If you know this breed tell me about them.

Also if you will has eggs in the beginning of Dec and can ship . Let me know what you have and a price. Or end of this month if you have scovy eggs, would like to add some color to that pen, I only have the French white and I find customer's comment that they are a little to big...

If I have anything that others want, I will need plenty of time for seperation, the hedemora are starting to lay if anyone is interested.
