Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Silkie, last fall we talked about my bantam Wyandottes. You were interested in some eggs. Are you still?

Fisher my rocks are laying if you stillwant some whenever the chicken express runs through.
I will contact you when I have my next round of broody hens ready... and I am glad you got things straightened out so you are back on line.... I wondered where you got to...

Perhaps some of you remember when i built this coop out of a dresser.................well I would like to sell it...............it comfortably housed 4 chickens...........yet I felt in winter if they were staying in...........they did not have much room to move around much. They did manage well their first winter..........I just felt they might have wanted more leg room?

It has the back room as I called it that has the long roost bar with vinyl flooring underneath.

then you can see from the front it has 2 drawers each with an upper window and awning of sorts.

there is a front door, side door with window and wire combo, and another side door that leads to the run on the right.

anyway.............it is also not leveled correctly. I built it unleveled and then dad added a roof and leveled just the roof part! The roof is sturdy and has a section under the roof ----the mini attic ----that I used as a place to store some things............

if you are interested I am in chester county.............SE PA and just message me.

it might also make a nice hospital coop...............or coop for younger birds?

I ended up building a bigger coop and use an old rabbit hutch or dog crate at this time if I need to separate any birds.

I kinda hate to get rid of it because it was my first coop and real construction project..................but I think it would be best!

You just described most of the men I know.

@Wing: sorry to hear you lost that OE boy, I know how much you liked him. Can't believe you hung onto him this long...

@Silkies: I appreciate that recipe. I wonder if I could find someone around here to miss it up for me...

B:

If you find a source, I pitch in with you on it.....

Are you primarily interested in the non GMO non soy? I haven't committed to the idea yet.... But good to know that you and Anneinthesuburbs are interested in going in on feed.

I have orpingtons, but not buff. Most are hatching a mottled blue/ yellow. Almost like a blue partridge. Some are more standard partridge, black and yellow. I have a project going that started with BBS and a lemon cuckoo rooster, hence the "blue partridge".

I I'm in northwest Lancaster county about twenty minutes from Lancaster out Harrisburg. I have a few hatched late February, so they will be easy to tell hens.

More may be hatching in the next few eeks, probably be partridge from my project pen.

I'm looking for a broody.. I heard BOs made great broody mamas but I can't imagine color matters all that much, or maybe I'm wrong? I'd love some blue in my coop again (the cochin we lost was blue... she was supposed to by my broody).

I usually take Rt 78 to 81 into Harrisburg and then get on the Turnpike, are you far from that route? My brother lives in Lancaster too, so if it is too far off of my route, maybe I could have my brother pick them up for me (I'd probably want two). February chicks would be great, they'd be just older than my Delaware and dark Cornish.

I'm in Lancaster county. My TS_ finally got a good selection, too late for me though: Pullets:Buff Orphington, Barred Rock, Black Astralorpe; St Run: SLW, Welsummer, RIR, and besides some different ducks, St Run something unidentified by the hatchery with yellow vs reddish chicks.

My TSC out here is down to just ducks... they had terrible labels for identification. They had red rangers, Cornish cross, 'layers', and 'ducks'.

So wait!!!! Is there really a chicken express???

Haha, I was referring to myself... I make fairly frequent trips from Beaver County to Lehigh County (so from one side of the state to the other). I'm happy to transport birds or eggs as long as it doesn't take me too far off route (unless I'm getting something for myself too!). I take the turnpike so I don't get up to the northern part of the state at all.

I'm scheduled at work every day for the next month, so after that, let me know when you're headed this way!
well. your not too busy..

geesh...
Todd is down that way right now..he will most likely be there throughout the summer...I am going to try to go down for a visit, maybe we could set something up..that would be real fun!!..Then, I would have to hop over to *Wings place and barge-in on her too!

...she is only like..what..15 minutes away from my parents place?!..it is ridiculous that I haven't been over to see her yet....

"chicken express" will be making a trip (Beaver County - Lehigh County) on Memorial Day weekend. @dheltzel , do you now of any Buff Orps in your area? I think I'd prefer a BO over another cochin... I'm weary of the feathered feet with the mud that we get here in our soggy yard.

First peek into the bunny nest... we've been able to see movement in there for a couple days, but this was the first I've gotten a look at the babies. Pretty sure they were born Saturday night/Sunday so they are almost a week old. They were kicking around a lot as soon as I uncovered them. I counted at least 5, probably 6.

..awwww..bunnies!!!

I will have Nigerian Dwarf kids weaned and ready in August, but you are 4 1/2 hrs from me. I sell them $300 doelings, $250 bucklings and $150 wethers. Here are 2 of my bred girls:

beautiful goats Blarn!! ..and who is that very handsome feathered guy watching over everything??..he is awesome looking!

So wait!!!! Is there really a chicken express???
..hahaha, sometimes there can be a few people involved with getting birds to their new owners....pretty cool huh?!

I am pretty out of the way though or I would love to help out...not too much comes through the north-middle-mountains....

Raising roosters paid off
10 LF
3 bantam
4 of the LF and 2 of he bantam were mine all the rest came from others last fall .

Grand total is 9 quarts of whole bone in legs and thighs and 10 pints of chunked up meat..
Would of been much better if the predators would not of gotten some
awesome!! it is the greats thing knowing where you food comes from.
I can't wait to get some CornishX chicks here...they are so easy to maintain. Just two months and you've got the best chicken ever in the freezer!

I'm about twenty minutes from the Harrisburg east or the Lancaster-Lebanon turnpike interchanges. Just off route 283, halfway between Lancaster and Harrisburg. (17552)

I have two BBS orpingtons of my 5 trying to go broody right now. They are heritage stock, it goes with the territory. Generally have a couple Swedish flower hens go broody, too. Seems once one starts, everyone wants in on the act.
