I had a chick get scalped by an older bird back in December. I cleaned it out and blue coated it and he healed just fine. Maybe add a bit of neosporin. good luck!
I just do basic first aid type wound care, wash with warm, soapy water to remove any debris, look closely for bleeding or visible bone (so you have a good handle on it's exact severity) and then you can lightly coat edges with triple antibiotic (without the pain relief) if you want or just spray with blu-kot. there are other topical sprays available at tsc which are similar to the blu-kot but I am not familiar with it so can't comment.
Thank you! I cleaned it with warm soapy water and then sprayed the blu-kot on it... I got the aerosol but I'm now wishing I had gotten the pump spray because my hand is all purple now too! Found another injury on his wing, looks like he/she may have been in there longer than I thought or had a confrontation some other time that I never knew, cleaned and treated that one too.
I put him/her in a bin with a wire lid inside the turkey pen bc I was worried the other turkeys would pick on him, but I didn't want him to be all alone either. How often should I do the blu-kot?
