Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Did she hatch Welsummers early, or Rhodebars? Welsummers and Marans seem to take about a half day longer than the Ameraucana, Barred Hollands and Rhodebars.

Broody #1 was given eggs on Tuesday May 8th about 5-6 p.m. These were the Wellsummers eggs only and you had let me know that some were a little old and may not develop. She hatched out 2 on May 28th, but they didn't survive due to my Broody's getting mixed up (and who know what else happened.) The two chicks I have now hatched out the next day, on the 29th. Four eggs never developed. She is taking them all over and is a five star broody! :D

The other eggs I received from you on Tuesday, May 26th. Those are the Wellsummers and Rhodebars. They are due to hatch on the 17th, I believe. Two of the eggs were broken when other girls were still trying to lay in her box. Will keep you updated. I love having broodys!

Not a color I was working toward, but it sure is pretty!

Man, you got quite a few colors that you didn't plan on getting this spring!

It's a bit difficult to see, but this is my weekend project. I need to get the turkey out of the brooder, so it's a hoop house 30x12. Still need to finish one end with a door and add a tarp over the far end plus something for roosts. The small coop was there, just building around it. Currently the write is held on with wrote ties, I will add wrote later. I just need them outside!

this has been my weekend project....
it took 2 weeks to save egg money to buy the hog panel. but the rest we had..
my version of a grow out rabbit hutch

we did end up having to put chicken wire on the inside of the hog panel, some of the smaller one's could squeeze into those holes

silkie, you are spot on, and we have thought about walking away and never looking back...but at the same time. this is what defines us , it is what we do, has been our whole lives for many year's. while the other sibling's stood on the side lines and never broke a sweat..

let me add that they are also the well educated one's who play at the country club with their lawyer friends, and they look at us as being dumb as dirt..husband never went to college, he farmed right out of high school

This is heartbreaking Wing. Walking away is not as easy when you've got your blood sweat and tears into a piece of land.

@Blarneyeggs my bf bought me a little tri-color nigerian dwarf buckling Wed!!! He's so stinking cute!!! He also got me a nubian/alpine cross doe in milk. She looks like a deer. The neighbors kept stopping & honking at her yesterday when I had her tied by the road...lol

Sweet! Our ND buckling went to his new home last week, so we're back to only does here for the time being...should have kids in the next week or 2, prepare yourselves for picture overload!

Might as well start now... I've got these Polydome containers for the goats, love them so far, keeping them dry and warm, this winter should be a site easier.

Well, I had a decent hatch!  Only two of the dozen or so eggs under the broodies hatched.  I'm fine with that since fertility is still iffy on the bantams.  I have a load of Wheaten/Blue Wheaten/Splash Wheaten chicks, some that I am going to sell as Easter Eggers because they have clean faces (anyone interested?).  I actually hatched some bantam Cochins, too!  I am so excited about them!  I have some eggs from Wade Collins I paid over $100 for.  I have 2 of his chicks out and 4 are still moving around in their shell.  I have one of my own blues out, too!  Some F2 chocolates and some chocolate mille b.cochins.  Really, the bantam Cochins are all I really care about right now!  In 2wks I'll worry about the spangled/mottled Orps.

I can't remember...were you interested in the chocolate Orp? Which I'm thinking at this point MAY be a pullet?
