Hon, you can vent here anytime you want!! you can be proud of what you are accomplishing with all of your hard work. Very few would sign up for what you are doing....we will look forward to any chance you get to share with us. I hope the intensity reduces a bit as you get into a routine, but even if it doesn't you know where to come for a couple minutes of relaxation to get recharged.
Ditto!!!, Chippy....learning to work hard makes everything else seem easier....(and you sleep a lot better too!)
feel free to vent any time! You know we're all here to support you
It doesn't looks like foul play, none of the chicks are missing. I did not see any injuries or anything on her. It's my SLW, about a year old. My egg production has been down, but I also have broodies. Should I have her tested? Where do I have her tested? Her neck was completely limp, but I guess thats normal if she died? I felt to see if she was egg bound, but her vent did not feel firm. Her crop was semi full, but soft. She hadn't been acting strange at all either. Is it possible she could have choked? She is still a little warm, so I know it was not long ago. I'm okay that she died, but I don't want her to suffer, and I don't want to spread any diseases to the rest of my flock.
I can't help with any advice. I found one of my girls a month or so ago dead also but she was on the roost. Her neck was also very floppy, hadn't showed anything wrong the day before or anything. I haven't had any issues with the flock since either. Hopefully, it was just a freak accident, for both our girls.
