I've allllways wanted a blue copper marans. She's so super sweet too, I held her all morning and she didn't complain one bit.

Excellent birthday present! I hope you enjoy her.

Thank you so much for the warm welcome! I was so excited to find a PA thread and see some people from Blair County!

That's awesome!

Thought I'd share this pic while I'm at it. This is a pullet I hatched from eggs from Sara Sweatman.

She is gorgeous! Is that a polish?

Mixed emotions....as much as I am glad their population is recovering, and as impressive as I believe them to be, I still don't want them hanging out near our place. I have a friend who has lost over a dozen birds to a pair which moved into his neighborhood.
Protected or not, they would have to get around Mindy...and she doesn't check rule books before doing her job...

She is pretty! is she nice?
Well thanks everyone, she is a Polish, my daughter likes them, I prefer a heavier bird. @Sally, nice? Well I guess so. She's not mean, and not overly flighty.

Oh, and the progress on my sister's coop... I'm bummed we didn't get it completely finished (and that I didn't follow my design and put the roof on wrong), but it is done enough to house chickens. She will just need to put the shingles on and finish painting the outside white. Oh, and they also need to add some type of handle for pulling it around. They only plan to move it 2x a year at season change.

Looks really nice.

Talk about white paint, I find this white primer at homedepot very cheap:

Do you think it's a good choice for painting coop?
