Thought about it, but goat shed is only 48sq ft and they would do best in separate pasture areas, goats on browse, alpacas on grasses. I have both, but it would require 1000 ft plus more fencing.

I "try" to stick to no more than one new species/ year.

I'd be thinking you use the word "try' in a liberal sense.....btw, how's the albino breeding going??? Both you and Chippy have been very quiet on the matter.......

@MotorcycleChick

Please let me know when jojo and lily get there and that they are alright. I'm happy and sad at the same time!
But here is a pic of MCC's new pekin ducks taken this morning before they left:

I hope she doesn't mind me saying and posting that but they are the best birds ever! :love

MCC:

Congrats...are these instead of NYD or in addition to??? I suspect the latter...

and, what's up with talking about every critter but chooks??? I am thinking of joining the NYD, guess I should start scanning ebay for eggs...

What breeds are you looking for? I have Legbars and Rhodebars laying a little right now. Turkeys are still laying too, but could quit anytime. Might also have some Ams or Welsummers by then.

Jazlyn is down for the count, and I had time to go through a few things. First, the eggs! Can we say, "big!"? T here is a large chicken egg for comparison.

They were asleep until some rude woman woke them up! Otherwise, they seem fine. No calling out in distress. They will be checked again in a few hours. This time, I won't go in.

Wow, I never realized how much larger their eggs are. Fisherlady said they are great for baking too! They are off to Duckie dream land. The traveling probably wore them out. Throw a handful or so of dried mealworms in their water dish tomorrow morning and they will love you forever. Hmmm, let me know if she builds a nest by morning. I'm curious, she should lay an egg. She adapts easily to new surroundings. Wait till jojo meets the chickens. Ahhh, I'm excited thinking about it all! Gosh I'm pathetic, I need a life!

I'm holding off until days start to lengthen. Bino is in a pen with six girls, two albino and for light one from the same hatch. They are just starting to come in to lay, they are all younger than Chippy's Allie.
