I can't imagine putting in that many hours and still having primary responsibility for caring for the animals. You have good lighting in your pens to let you tend them after dark?

I ordered a hat with a built-in LED light since it gets dark so early now. Great Christmas gift idea if any of you are looking for ideas.

Actually, I go to work at noon, so get everything done in the morning, then shower so I'm clean to go to work;) I work a dirty factory job, most people shower after work.

I've got clip on LED lights as well as small flashlights I can hold in my mouth. I buy handfuls when they are on sale.
At least this weather saves on water issues, I still have my outdoor house system turned on so don't have to haul as much.

The clip on LED's, do they tend to fall off the brim of the hat? It seems like they would, so I bought a hat with the LED built in, I might regret that, it's probably hard to clean and prone to failure.

Someone should invent a flashlight that wraps around your neck, like some of the headphones they make now. I'd probably still do the hat one also, but in some cases, the extra light would be very useful.

Most of my coops have LED lighting built in, it's the walkways between them that gets treacherous after dark.

I haven't had an issue with the clip on, but I bought rather good ones. Cheap flashlights tend to fail for me. I hunk they are Remington, got them in a spring goods department somewhere.

Black and Decker used to make a flexible snake light, c or d cell, I think. Kind of heavy, but I'd be surprised if someone hasn't updated it. This tends to be the time of year gimmicks like that show up on shelves.

No hatching here. Incubator has been off for months and I work every day from now to Christmas and then every day until new years, all but five days are 12 hours. Just finding time to care for my animals in there is tough.

I've been thinking of getting one of those hat lights more and more lately.
When the ground isn't covered in snow, cheap solar lights work for finding the coop. I say cheap because even the good ones can be broken when a pebble shoots out of the riding mower.

Just let me know

both towns are about 30-45 minutes from me but I'm always at one or the other for something lol
Which would be better an evening during the week or the weekend?

I had a question I've been looking around but cant seem to find a solid answer. How much would a chicken that just started laying sell for?
