You going to get down close to all the chicks and ask them which one wants to be "Candy", then take the one that look up at you?

That's actually how I got my cat Alisa. She chose me and her sisters had no interest in me at all. She's an amazing (yet spoiled) cat, although DH disagrees. She is a really good hunter, while my other cat is not able to catch anything. I never let her go outside, or she will kill every single bird in the neighborhood. I put hardware cloth around the brooder cage to ensure she's not gonna get a chick, even though she is not allow to enter the room.

My Dom babies that hatched on 1/18. So roughly 4.5 weeks old. Not sure whats up with the inner set of toes on the one boy.

Bent toes can be from positioning when in egg or from deficiency in calcium/nutrients or a genetic abnormality. If minor it can often be corrected with splinting and vitamin supplement. I would try a tape splint to see if they will come around. Search for 'toe splint' or 'foot splint' to find a thread with pictures of them.

Today is a hard day for us. My daughter more than anyone. I found little Cookie dead today behind some plywood that was leaning against the turkey coop. Cookie was her baby that she picked out at the feed store two years ago. There was plenty of poop back there so I'm wondering if she was thinking of going broody again. Cookie "the tiny mother hen" will be terribly missed. We buried her in the yard since she was such a special girl. RIP little Cookie

Oh, no! I still remember the moments that she tried to cover her silver laced babies who were bigger than her. RIP, poor girl.
