Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I am so glad they are in such a great home. I am also amused by the "spunkiness" of those sexlinks. It must have a genetic basis because they seem energized from the moment they hatch. The hatch fast and jump around like quail in the incubator. It has the be the California Grey in them, Ameraucanas never act like that. Last week there were 2 that hatched late and had to be helped out (humidity issues - corrected now), they are still about half the height of the turkey poults, yet they seem to have no problems making their way in the brooder with the big chicks. It's going to be interesting seeing how they turn out.
Yes, she is quite a character. She was so small and was easily pushed by the other chicks, but she never gave up. She is not shy or flighty at all like CGs, just has a kind of "my way or highway" attitude.

The middle chick in this Sally Sunshine's photo has the exactly same mean look on her face.

I thought that photo must be fake, until I saw little Brownie.

Hey, I know not a lot of us on here are from the western part of the state, but does anyone on here know someone from Western Pa that would have adult cotournix quail for sale this time of year? Thank!
Hey,

There is a farm in Butler Co. that has 8 week old mature Coturnix quail 6$ each. They're only website is on facebook, Freehling Farms. Haven't personally dealt with them everytime I get an opportunity to go they've already sold out. :(

Freehling Farms is east of Butler County. They are out in Kittanning.

Mostly lurk, but popping in to say "Hi" to all the other PA peeps! I can't believe how many of you are so close to the Chester County area. We need a chicken meet-up or something. :)

We have 8 layers from local breeders in the area, 11 in the basement brooder and hopefully a few eggs to incubate for a spring hatch. We grew out of the first coop shortly after we started keeping chickens. Made over the kids wooden playhouse structure and added that, now dh has a niggling in his ear about a new spring coop that I'm thinking we are needing for all of these chickens! ;)

Chicken math is surely like no other!

Here are some pictures of my very first chicks:
fluffy butts and Dolly the Rees CCL(Note that she has a head spot. Is that normal for a pullet?)

So, I don't know of anyone with quail... but there is a Farm to Table conference in Pittsburgh in a few weeks (March 18-19 I think) and last year there was a table there that had duck, chicken, and quail eggs. I don't remember the name of the farm, but with the conference coming up so soon, it may be worth going to check out the possible lead (also, it is a great event... and I'll be there on Saturday with some goodies at the WAPF table).
