Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

The chicks are a day or so shy of being eight weeks, and they seem to be comfortable with exploring outside of the run now. They don't seem to be at the point where they will be in the run while the adults are there, but as long as the adults are out in the yard, the chicks come out and the adults no longer chase them back in.

This is Hysterical! Cooking up her sibs?

Hi everyone
wink.png
. I am from Northwestern PA and have recently gotten two Khaki Campbells. One duck one drake. I am looking for someone around here to get two or three more ducks for my drake. They don't have to be kcs. I am open to other kinds as well. Please let me know if you or someone you know has ducklings for sale. Thanks

I agree, Tractor Supply Company. I believe it's their 'go to' duck as they are good layers. My local has been carrying Pekins lately.

Quote: Seriously? You do not know the answer to this question? LOL All Peafowl eggs should be put directly in the nearest incubator.

Adorable picture!

The chicks should be able to integrate before you know it, the older birds will still peck them once in a while to make sure they remember their place, but it won't be needed much.

Kids are lazy now days and always want the reward, but never want to work for it. My son is 15 and has one chore. He does the dishes. You think it was the end of the world. We got 21 pullets last weekend and my girls 2,4,and 6 are all about helping and cleaning their bin. They are starting to name them and the older ones can't wait to collect eggs even though it will be a while yet.

Meh, kids have always been lazy when it comes to 'boring chores'... It's easy to romanticize our own history and conveniently forget how we whined to our parents about not wanting to clean our rooms or wash dishes, but I know that my siblings and friends and I would certainly rather ride our bikes down to the park and play all afternoon than clean our room or rake leaves in the yard. Nobody wants to do that stuff, but as adults we recognize that 'somebody has to do it' so we do it without complaining (much)... kids, then and now, don't have that kind of forward thinking yet. That doesn't mean we shouldn't give them responsibilities, it just means they will probably complain about it when we do, not because they are spoiled but because they are kids. The difference *I* see between kids then and now is that parents have their kids' lives so structured that they don't have the freedom to 'just be kids' anymore, while at the same time not giving them the responsibility to take care of stuff (home and animal chores) on their own anymore.

And now, back to you regularly scheduled chicken talk

Tractor supply here is were I got the two ducks I have. Started with two because it was my first time with ducks and I was nervous. I got lucky and I'm pretty sure I have a duck and a drake because they don't vent them. The store here sells out almost as fast as they get them in so I haven't found more there and I really don't want more drakes. I would just like two or three more females so the ducks all stay happy ;) not sure we're else to go. I appreciate all the help and advice from all on here. Thank you

TSC. Buy the bag, it's cheaper than the plastic container that's by the chicken feed. It is usually on the back wall in by the cattle feed and medication.
ok thanks you all I go the DE, now can,i,just put it in a pan in the brooder or do I need to mix it with something. I think I have room for a small pan in the brooder

I would mix it with sand or even dry topsoil, the DE by itself is very dry and powdery, the birds will probably still use it but it will be a mess of a dust cloud if it isn't mixed.

Oh, great, now I want ducks. *I HAVE NO ROOM, I HAVE NO ROOM, I HAVE NO ROOM, I HAVE NO ROOM, I HAVE NO ROOM, I HAVE NO ROOM, I HAVE NO ROOM, I HAVE NO ROOM, I HAVE NO ROOM, I HAVE NO ROOM,* Now, where can I put a blue laced Wyandotte and a lavender ameraucana?
