Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

My chickens are spoiled feather butts they see me coming to with my hands out they come a runnin and when I am coming back to there pen they are huddled up under there house waiting for me to come in there pen and then they are all circled around me to see if they get anything

I have 4 week old chicks and what I do a couple times a week is feed them scrambled eggs bit just the yoks and I mix in some corn mill with it. U can rather put the eggs in a blinder our smash it up real fine. And every morning ill take them out side and let play around and sense IV been doing all that when there out that follow me around like I was there mother.

I understand your suspicion with those combs, I would need a good look at neck feathers to offer an opinion because I am not familiar with the youngsters of the breeds though. If you put a couple of fingers under the feathers at the base of their neck and lift up slightly to get a good look at the ends of the feathers...blunt or rounded ends are normal for hens and pointy ends are normally roosters. There are a few breeds which the feathers are the same, but not the breeds you have.
fisherlady.....i,checked out the neck feathers, and they seem to be more rounded than pointy on the ends. Everything I read says that points to hen.

I know the filling IV been trying to find some older Road island red hens all day with no luck.

I think I would know someone but they can't ship so u would have to be close if my neighbors didn't butchered there birds to feed there family when they get older and stop laying they keep them after they are two but anyways if they didn't do that for food I would offer to take some from them they get Rhode Island reds that's the only thing they get but they had bantams one time also but something got them. O and they just butchered all of there birds I got one off of them but she passed away a few months after I got her she wouldn't walk she would just lay there but she just wanted to be with the others and then she was laying in the yard trying to go after them and so I took her away to put her in the pen away from them to lay down but as soon as I opened the door and set her down she passed. So I am left to one Rhode Island Red and them I have a mixed flock of 15 and counting.
