I remember that I really wanted beef cubes for canning something. I bought the beef cubes, and can't remember what I want to can now.
It was not beef stew. Does anyone have any ideas of what the heck I might have wanted to do?

I've heard that beef broth can prevent memory loss . . .

We settled on our new house (and our old one) on Tuesday!!! We are officially living there, but I have no internet access until Friday. I have been so busy, but it has been wonderful!! This property and house has so many awesome features I wasn't even aware of, and it's HUGE! The other night I was running back and forth in the house, just because I could! Our last home was 1008 square feet, with no basement or garage.

More good news, the previous owner, who is just moving next door didn't care at all if I brought in chickens or turkeys. Not that he has a recourse, we own the property now, but it's nice when everyone is in agreement. Now I need to get my act together tomorrow to convert the carport to a temporary yet secure turkey shelter.

I'm so excited!!!!

Good afternoon all:

Have a bit of a CCL mystery....so any thoughts appreciated....

I have three roos...#1and #2 are CCL(Jill Reese from DH) and the third is BCM....well #3 has been spending some quality time with my CCL girls...Older girl is Line B and has hatched CCLs with my old Roo....the younger CCL girl is from DH (and Jill Reese).....

So I have hatched this type of chick twice....note that she is cream colored with a black dot on her head....(that is not the normal CCL)

here is a pick of her 5wk old sister(identical at birth)...to me she is a she.. her 'top hat' is darker than the other girls and her crest is salmon but not as pronounced as the other CCL girls....both were hatched from blue eggs so mom is CCL.....

so, think she's a pure breed CCL or a mixed breed BCM over CCL....????

If you're BCM roo carries the recessive wheaten gene, he very well could be the father. Otherwise, I would think that her shanks and comb wouldn't be yellow if he was the daddy

She looks purebred CCL to me. Unless your BCM has a lot of recessive genes hiding in him, any of his chicks should be extended black (black penguin chick with white front). EB is dominant over wild-type chick down (and all other types except for dominant white, which neither parent has). The chick does look wheaten or doubled barred over wild type (male autosexing breed). Any chance you got confused and she did not look like that as a chick?

Thought everyone would like to see the little survivor today. I decided to name her Mira for miracle. She's much, much more alert today (though she doesn't look like it in the first picture) and feeling a bit better. Her head does stink though. Is that normal? I noticed it when I was flushing it.

She's had that eye open all day :) You can probably see that it's stretched back and there's a wrinkle under it but it still works :)
