Good question, I never really compared the volume of crows. That little bantam crowed a lot when hew was in our garage. Because they were small, they stayed much longer than large fowl chicks would have and it was his crowing that made me move them from the garage. So, bantams can crow pretty loud too.

Yes, bantam roosters can crow, but we always joke that they sound like squeaky toys, They have nowhere near the volume of large fowl roosters..

I've only had 2 and they were the model of calmness. Big teddy bears, basically. Rhodebars roos are similar. Both breeds are large enough they could really hurt if they attacked. The Legbars, OTOH, are much more likely to challenge me, but small and light enough it is almost comical to watch them try.

My Ameraucana roos have always been well mannered too, and so handsome. They take extraordinary care of their ladies.

You are correct, Anne's pullet is a Welbar.

Okay, a couple more of those would probably go unnoticed, if they were of similar size/age.

On the coop front, got most of my vinyl flooring installed, and removed the dinky vents on the side of the shed. I will be expanding the holes for better ventilation. And thank the Lord for YouTube! I was watching some videos on how to use my circular saw correctly. I wasn't aware I could make angled cuts before; it will make building the roosts so much easier. The only problem is my sawhorses are temporarily being used as roosts for my birds. So naturally they are covered in poop. Also ordered my chicken guard door opener, I won't move the flock inside until I have that installed and working properly. I don't want to take any chances. It will be a challenge to move them to the new digs. How will I lift Tom to put him in his new home? . Can't wait for my day off on Tuesday. Lots of projects to do and I pick up my new (old) silk girls! e

Good evening all:

Had a visit from the fox this evening....and I was home and never herd a thing(because I was home, I let them free range).....all the big girls/boys are intact....the four young ones were taken,,,,found a feather pile for the CCL girl and found the desiccated body of one of the OE roos....the two others are MIA....knowing this fox, they are gone too but, I will be up early in case 'he' comes back for the last carcass...I've lost the entire year's youngin's to the fox....only Anne has a few I gave her to re-populate her crew....really disappointing.....

Oh my goodness, stake, that's terrible. I'm so sorry. Poor things.

New to BYC and chickens. From Pittsburgh and would really love to find chicks from a breeder of true Ameraucanas in PA. Any suggestions?

Just herd the turkeys into their new home. Is the auto door opening big enough for a tom turkey?

Oh no, not again! I hope you get him. I'm so sorry for your loss In the spring, I should be able to get some CCL chicks out to you via the chicken train or whatever.

Hi! Welcome from Cambria county! I'm about an hour and a half from Pittsburgh and have lavender ameraucanas and silkied lavender ameraucanas. The girs aren't laying yet but should be soon. I should have plenty by spring. I replaced all my blacks with lavenders once I found that they carried the gene. The silkied lavenders are from Dheltzel's stock. The roo covering my regular lavender girls came from dheltzel also but is Blehm line.

You are really handy, girl! You husband must be proud of you.

I have to wait until our current house sold before I can buy our next one. Hopefully, early next year. Good news is that houses at the area usually come with at least one acre lot. I like a house with 9 acres the best, but I don't know if it will be still available when we are ready. We have noise regulation there, but no chicken regulation. So 9 acres should be safe for having roos.
