Quote: I would recommend 3 other products. Blukote is great for wounds, it is a blue spray antiseptic. It prevents other chickens from seeing red blood or irritation that can lead to pecking. Nutridrench is an excellent vitamin supplement to have on hand. The last one I would recommend is a product called Vetrx. It is a blend of essential oils in a corn oil base that can be used topically or orally. I just started using it a couple weeks ago and have seen some great effects with it. I acquired a turkey that had some kind of respiratory illness that caused he to cough/wheeze constantly. I tried two different antibiotics, but nothing seemed to work. She is underweight, but otherwise ate and drank normally, so I had just hoped she would recover on her own. After a few nights of applying the Vetrx to her nostrils, neck, and under her wings, she is all better! No wheezing! She may still be sick, but I can tell she is feeling better. I will know for sure if in a couple months she has put on weight and starts to lay. Hope that helps! All of these products are about $10 each I beieve, but good to have on hand.
Sorry you have a nasty one. That must be terrible. So does anyone in the Erie area have a New Hampshire Red rooster they're looking to rehome? I'm trying to get rid of our aggressive rooster and would like one to replace him. I don't want to wait a few months for my chicks to finally grow old enough. I had to go outside to clean up and the nasty rooster wouldn't stop attacking me![]()
ETA: I'll also take a friendly Rhode Island rooster. Thanks!
