Quote: I would recommend 3 other products. Blukote is great for wounds, it is a blue spray antiseptic. It prevents other chickens from seeing red blood or irritation that can lead to pecking. Nutridrench is an excellent vitamin supplement to have on hand. The last one I would recommend is a product called Vetrx. It is a blend of essential oils in a corn oil base that can be used topically or orally. I just started using it a couple weeks ago and have seen some great effects with it. I acquired a turkey that had some kind of respiratory illness that caused he to cough/wheeze constantly. I tried two different antibiotics, but nothing seemed to work. She is underweight, but otherwise ate and drank normally, so I had just hoped she would recover on her own. After a few nights of applying the Vetrx to her nostrils, neck, and under her wings, she is all better! No wheezing! She may still be sick, but I can tell she is feeling better. I will know for sure if in a couple months she has put on weight and starts to lay. Hope that helps! All of these products are about $10 each I beieve, but good to have on hand.

So does anyone in the Erie area have a New Hampshire Red rooster they're looking to rehome? I'm trying to get rid of our aggressive rooster and would like one to replace him. I don't want to wait a few months for my chicks to finally grow old enough. I had to go outside to clean up and the nasty rooster wouldn't stop attacking me

ETA: I'll also take a friendly Rhode Island rooster. Thanks!
Sorry you have a nasty one. That must be terrible.

Thanks! We'll have to grab some next time we go to Tractor Supply! Are there any other medications I should give to my chickens to make sure they are all as healthy as can be?

Anne pretty much got it, but I would add Corid.

I am amazed! Especially when I saw all those nasty little lice dying. It was very satisfying. I even sprinkled a few drops in the Broodys nest so that the chickys wouldnt be bothered by pests.

2 days until estimated hatch time! I wonder if she knows, she got off the nest every day from from Friday to Monday. I wonder if she knows she going into "Lockdown" mode soon.

Wonderful, thank you both! With no good local chicken vets nearby, I have to learn quickly! I will add all those to my chicken stuff to have on hand!

Fingers crossed for a great hatch!

Good recommendations!
Bluekote is also great for weekend Braveheart re-enactments.

Quick question for those of you with turkeys. Do yours nap frequently? The just seem more relaxed in general than chickens, but I can usually find my turkeys catching a little nap once a day. They like to hunker down near the bushes by our deck and get a few winks. They all seem normal and healthy, but I just want to make sure they are in good health. They look very happy napping and I suspect they are just spoiled.

That would be me. Every. Single. Time. In my head, I'm like, 'should I run inside and grab gloves? Nah. I'll just be careful.'

We will be trying to put our two together this week if they don't get along Ill probably have one for you. He doesn't crawl in my lap or anything but he's never been aggressive and doesn't mind me in by him and the hens.
