@AnneInTheBurbs
, I'm betting on one of the older silkies. But, it's just a guess.

Speaking of eggs, I got the first egg from my silkied lavender ameraucanas today :) It's been added to the incubation line-up

Are you hatching any of the Lavender Americaunas now? I have a broody who will need chicks in the next couple of weeks. Hubby liked the pic of the LAs I showed him and some green/blue eggers would work great for us. I would love to buy some and can come over to pick them up if you have any available.

ahhh yes! Looky what we have here!!! Thank you MsLadyHawk

Wow! How many eggs can that baby hold?

it says 270 chicken eggs! We just plugged it in . :celebrate

I'm going to need some parts, like the egg trays and the wick pads.

It depends on the size of the egg trays you use. Most trays are about 12 inches square and can hold 30 large eggs like turkeys, 48 standard chicken eggs, 59 Pheasant/bantam eggs, or 120 quail eggs. You can get 6 trays in the turner, so 6 * 48 = 288 regular chicken eggs.

There were no trays with it?
Those wick pads are pricy and you only want them during the hatch. I haven't needed them for a while.

Guys I think I'm going nuts! This is the third time in two weeks I have a membrane egg, and I can't figure out who is doing it. I sat down with a notepad tonight, and I only have three ideas.

1. One of the old silkies has started to lay again (maybe because of improved nutrition and free ranging?)

2. The broody BSL with new chicks is laying the membrane egg.

3. The Olive egger that has gone broody is still putting out an egg.

Here are the eggs I collected today :

700

The brown egg is from the Legbar, The Olive egg is from the CCL/Marans cross (uaully I get two but her sister is broody). The four blues are from the CCLs. Two very light blues from the BSL (the third BSL just hatched out the turkey poults) and two white eggs from the Cali greys. I also got another egg from my Bielefelder, but I collected that earlier today.

I have 16 chickens in total:

4 CCL
3 BSL
2 CCL/Marian's
2 Silkies
1 Legber
1 Biele
1 Roo
2 Cali Greys

I am selling 4 girls tomorrow morning, so that may help me narrow it down. Just thought maybe you guys might have an idea on my puzzle... :old

It was the dog.

Do you sell sexed silkie chicks?

Hello, welcome to BYC.
I am not aware of anyone locally (on the Pa Unite thread) who sells sexed banty chicks. Vent sexing as day olds is very difficult, and mistakes still happen, even with the most experienced folks. To try vent sexing banty chicks (such as silkies) becomes very unreliable so most folks wouldn't want to risk selling birds as pullets and having to correct mistakes later on.

Even if you find 'sexed chicks' it isn't a guarantee that you won't end up with a rooster. You may need to buy started pullets if you absolutely can't have roosters. Otherwise you will have to make arrangements ahead of time for what to do with roosters you get by mistake.

If you can't have roosters what are you going to do with the hens when they want to raise chicks of their own, as most silkie hens like to do multiple times a year?
