Anyone know what a pocket chicken is?
Hubby is going out of town to Texas so I'm going to get a couple chickens he said I couldn't have as payback for him enjoying the sun while I deal with snow! Going to see how long till he notices lol. Anyway I am going to get some Americanas I think. They might just be Easter eggers. But he also said he had some pocket chickens I might like. Kinda curious what they are and if they can be in a mixed flock. He said they're half the size of Banties?

I'm pretty sure he is joking with you on the chicken pockets. You have heard of hot pockets, a handheld pie. Homemade copycat chickens pockets can be filled with chicken and just about anything. Try adding chicken, broccoli.and lots of gooey melted cheese, Make him some when he returns to get the last laugh.

Lol love me some chicken pies! I worded it wrong or he's using the wrong name. He had some hens that are very small and very good fliers. Half the size of a Banty?

He is referring to Seramas. You can google that for loads of information. @Sally Sunshine has some and could advise you about their care. I think they would need to be housed separately from the big chickens to make sure they are not bullied.

Friday night is when I set eggs. Set 456 tonight. 13 different breeds/colors of chickens, plus peafowl eggs. Set some Silkied Ameraucanas for the first time this year, no idea if they will be fertile.

how bout that!? I don't really have a 'set night' but I happened to set tonight. About 90? I'm not sure. My egg holders didn't come yet, so I used egg cartons instead. The shelves tilt sooooo far, I'm scared that all of the eggs are going to roll right out and break.

My little silly silkies get wet, but they don't seem to care. If it was really cold, I would try to make sure they stayed in. They have plenty of places to stay under to remain dry, but this morning when it was raining, they were out with the rest of the flock. They look terrible, but don't seem seem upset about it at all. On the snowy days, they are smart enough to stay in the coop. My "special needs" girls are tough old birds!

Mine too!
