Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Sounds like she is getting ready to cut the apron strings. How old is the chick? Most of our hens start distancing themselves around the 6 to 7 week mark. I am glad she is still keeping the chick warm at night. The last group we had in the pencil pen ended up being adopted by the rooster for evening roost warming. Luckily there were only 3 of them and the rooster was very tolerant.

She has to be right around 6-7 weeks old. She still has some down feathers on her head. Ana seems to know that it's still too cold to let her go on her own but she's definitely not the least bit concerned about where she is in the morning when the food is brought out.

Just moved 315 eggs into hatchers!

Hatching chicks is so fun. I'm a little behind on the sales side of things and starting to get overrun with chicks. I need to find some "dealers" a ways away from me to resell my Cream Legbars.

In sadder news, the coons got extra hungry with the snow and found a way into a pen, killing 4 or 5 pullets.

I would really love some lavender bantam Ameraucanas. I also gave your name to someone on the Real Ameraucana Marketplace on facebook for a referral.

He is going to be a handsome boy!
And she has a beautiful face!

Thanks! I sure love them!

And thanks to everyone for sharing pictures and stories of your chickens. How sweet! Today wasn't anything special but I felt bad for my girls in the coop so I made them some scrambled eggs which they obviously went crazy for! Other than that, it has been quiet. Getting fewer eggs yet again with the cold temps. Looking forward to spring.... I'm impatient because we have the 7 babies inside and I cannot wait to get them out of the house! I love them but oh lordy the mess... I'd rather they fertilized my yard rather than my kitchen floor! (only spot I can let them flap their wings and wipe up after).

I'm at tractor supply and having a hard time note getting chicks!!
i caved. Didn't buy chickens but now own Peking ducks. Tsc sucks me in every time. My children told me chickens are a gate way animal. Lol. Being a newbie, aside from adding ni!acin to their diet and making sure they have adequate supplies of water, is there anything else I should know about pekings? My husband stated i couldn't buy any more chickens, technically I didn't buy any more chickens..poultry math at is finest. He doesn't know it yet, but I want to also purchAse silkie hatching eggs when one of my hens gets broody. That not purchasing chickens....right????:\

First, the niacin is about it. Be sure that in about ... I think it takes three weeks for a quart waterer to not be deep enough for the ducklings.
Are their bills pink? Last year, the six Pekins I got from TSC were actually French White Muscovies. I am not sure how there wasn't a bigger fuss about it, It was happening across the U.S.!

yes bills appear pink. I will post a pic as soon as I can. I hear muscovies make great ducks too. I would be happy with what ever they are. I have three, hoping one is a female
