Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

@dheltzel. Just wanted to give you an update on the broody eggs. I just candled and tossed four of the Bielefelder eggs. Looks like one blood ring, one early quitter, and two never developed. Hatch day is approximately this Wednesday. Fingers crossed! She is such a good sitter so far. Always back n the same nest, gets up every day for just a bit, and she growls anytime someone comes near.

That reminds me!

@fisherlady, I think you're right about your roo not getting the job done. I candled yesterday. 10 look to be completely clear. 2 look like they may have some developement.

All the Lavenders were fertile?
Those lavenders are going to be some of your favorite chickens. Any of the Ameraucanas are super friendly, one of the "side effects" of show birds, docility is a useful feature whereas in production settings it's no real benefit.

Hey All!!! Haven't been on in a while. Wanted to ask opinions. We have a rooster that will be a yr old in April. Another rooster picked all his tail feathers out when he was about 4 months. We got rid of the other rooster. We get his bum to looking like feathers are growing back and then it ends up bald again from the hens picking at him. We constantly have blue kote on him. His whole back side stays bald now and we can't seem to get the feathers to grow back. We have changed feed and gave feather fixer also. We didn't want to separate him from the rest of the chickens, but don't know what else to do. Suggestions?? We are afraid he's going to end up getting an infection if they keep peaking at his bum. Not hat it matters, but he's a light Brahma.

Here are some better pics. Kinda curious what colors. Two whites I believe.
Then this one is light and has very faint chipmunk stripes

These two are darker with chipmunk stripes. One has very white stripes.

Next to the light ones
I can not get over how cute they are

Not an expert - but I had a straight-run of Silkies that all looked like yours and they grew to be all white, some feathered, some not. Oh and 8 cockerels and 1 pullet out of the bunch.

Your chick pictures are making it very tempting to run to TSC! I was just there for feed and had to silently congratulate myself for resisting the urge to buy chicks!

There is a product called 'Pick No More' which really works...coat the area being picked (it is a gel you rub on) and the hens really don't like it. We have one problem hen who was all the time picking at Grayson's neck feathers and it stopped her cold .
It is available through Tractor Supply and probably other feed stores...I would give it a try if you haven't already.
