Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

All chicks that I hatch tend to hatch on late day 20 or early on day 21. LF and bantam. Even the tiny little serama chick that I hatched was on day 21 lol.

Now turkeys, they routinely hatch on day 27 for me lol

Hopefully next year at this time we'll be hatching turkeys! The eggs showed up a few hours ago! All safe and sound. You sent way more then I was expecting! Thank you! Should I wait till the girls go eat and sneak them in or put gloves on and try to slide them under? Yay!! My first egg shipment lol

That's not far at all! Knisely's is a feed store in Carlisle, I was asking in case anyone knew which hatchery they used. They get a large variety of chicks and have their breed order schedule online. I picked up 5 hatchery quality Dominiques and an EE from them in March, all sexed as pullets, however 2 Doms were obvious cockerels at week 5 :( so I had been curious if anyone had similar experience with misgendered chicks from either them or the hatchery they use. Doms are supposed to be fairly easily sexed at hatch so it was rather disappointing.
There can always be mistakes when it comes to sexing chicks, I don't know about Doms being easily sexed at hatch, but I do know that I love them! We have a dominique named Charlotte, she is the kids favorite, we swore she was a rooster though, but she ended up just being an early bloomer I guess. My 1st chicks , which I got last spring, were from Meyer. I got 14 various breeds, and picked up 6 for a relative There was 1 rooster in the bunch.

Regarding hatching chicks....

Mine always seem a bit late...(perhaps I need to make an adjustment)

But, I am on Day 22 and the first pipped and hatched, two more have pipped.....

update, two more have hatched...looks like x2OE and one BCM,,,(though this could also be an OE as there are some non-black on the bird)

I'm not hatching any more of those this year so I just fit as many as the box would hold lol. For shipped eggs, it's recommended that you let them sit, upright, in a carton for 12-24 to rest before setting them (incubator or broody). It gives the air cell a chance to settle again since shipping can be so rough.

Anyone know the battery size for the Brinsea Spot check? The website only shows the pic and I'm out.
Replacement battery should be LR-44, S-76, A76, G13 or equivalent 1.55v button cell.
Avoid handling the battery surfaces because contamination may increase contact resistance. I wear a clean cotton glove when changing batteries like that.

Okay thanks!

Still new to PA wild life. Is this snake safe?

Wow I never knew that! I never wear gloves to put in batteries. Thank you

Talked to PSU PADLS about the necropsy and Infectious Coryza diagnosis.

Advice concerning other 2 chicks that were with sick chick, was kind of... inconclusive? I'm not saying they weren't helpful, because they have been very informative, understanding and communicative - but they just said it's kind of a crapshoot. Either I keep them seperate or just integrate them and hope for the best.

Anyone have any other advice? Chicks are on day 25 of quarantine but they (and we) are ready to get out of my basement.

TIA as always. :hugs
