Have any of you guys cracked an egg with a runny yolk? I have had one before, and I had one again tonight. I discarded them. I just want to know if it's something wrong with one of my hens or just a fluke. Here is a pic of the one I cracked tonight.

I always assume it's from swinging the basket. Or from flat out dropping them to play on the tire swing. :D

I'm ready to start giving away chicks to kids. Anyone know any deserving 4-H'ers, or just kids in general?

My Silkie girl passed this morning on her own. This morning I found her laying down, head down. I knew she was almost gone, and I thought it would be more disturbing to euthanize her at this point. When I came back from church, she had passed. I made sure to cremate her, in care it was infectious, but I suspect it was cancer or something. RIP Big Bird!

I'm so sorry to hear that she passed away but she's no longer suffering now.

Are you still hatching? Interest in chicks was booming here for a while but I'm so glad I stopped hatching when I did. It seems like everyone has gotten their chick fill now. I made a heck of a deal with a lady to get rid of the last of my CCL chicks. (That I wasn't keeping anyway.)

I decided to raise up some for myself from this roo that I got last year. I wasn't sure how his babies would look but I've been pleasantly surprised with the couple that I already kept. Crests need some work since he really doesn't have one but he's bringing a smaller and straighter comb to his daughters that I'm really liking :)

Define "kids". Haha! Just kidding. I am well stocked here. How many do you have to find homes for?

Also, have you heard any news on the Brabanters?

My turkey is happy raising the chicks with the three other broodies, but I saw the Tom mating her today a couple of times. When she lays any eggs, they will be going straight into the bator. I would still like a few more female MWs, and I'm sure other people would as well.
