Thank you, @yoopergirl1211, your barred rocks are settling in great! They are little so we will keep them separate from the others for a few weeks to avoid any fights. You had some gorgeous birds! Too bad we don't have room for more!

We finished the garden today and sat down in there with the new chicks to dig for worms with them :love

I just got home from the local livestock auction, and I seen something I never knew existed. Button Quail. OMG. They looked like just hatched chicks but they were literally the size of a thumbnail. does anyone have these?????? I am in love. No....I didn't buy them....i don't know why.

Some pics from here today. The chicks are getting big, and thankfully, the girls are sharing responsibility well. In the pic you can see on the left, the Black sex link is trying to snuggle in the box with the other hen and chicks.

I was sitting outside today enjoying the sunshine and listening to some podcasts. I thought I saw a large dog walk up, but in fact it was just a doe, wandering over to enjoy some chicken food. Freeloader!

In the pics with the brown chickens, you can see a black chick in between. These are the meat "chicks" that are almost 7 weeks old; in the middle is one of the bantam langshans. They are so tiny still, but the meat chicks are their crewmates, and they are always hanging out together. In this pic, all three were laying around, eating some greens that were in front of them. What a funny sight!

I deep cleaned my coop yesterday. What a difference! I also cut out some large makeshift windows, covered with hardware cloth for extra ventilation for the summer. I am saving the panels, so that they can be reattached for the winter. I know that will help on those hot summer nights.
