Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I'm pretty close to Berks Co, just south of Pottstown. And I've still got lots of chicks hatching, if you want any more . . .

I originally wanted 4. My minimum on MPC was 7. Township said 6 would be ok, 7 if I had to. I ordered 8 " just in case". Chicken math got me before I even started . I think I'll be pushing ordinances a little too much if I get anymore ... I'll have to wait a little while at least.

I've been so busy lately. Finally found time to check in on how all of you are doing! Seems things have quieted down since it's summer and chick days are coming to an end.

This week my two BO teenage roos decided to attack me. They are now contained in a wooden kennel until freezer camp. One other mixed roo is okay for now as hubby wants to keep him but I can tell he is sizing me up. Ugh I hate roosters.

@yoopergirl1211 The BR chicks we got from you are doing so great. They are the smartest little buggers we have! Today is their first day being outside the whole day with the flock. Everyone is getting along well! :wee

I must have the nicest roo. I keep hearing horror stories about them attacking. If any injury comes to me from my Dupli, it will be because I tripped over him. All my fiends get underfoot. Even him. And he lets me pet him. He doesn't quite cuddle, even the original ones don't do that anymore, but he is friendly.

I'm with you LadyBehir, we love our roosters and we have 5 of them in 3 different coops. 'Cuddliness' varies but all are very respectful and come right up to us searching for attention or treats to share with their harems.... but with that being said we have also butchered off a few over the years who were raised the same way and were nasty to other flock members or the dogs and challenged us.
It is worth it to keep trying though, once you have a good rooster you really come to appreciate all they can be.

X2. Most of our roos are at the very least, respectable. They understand our leadership and give way to us when we walk among them but there are a couple who are downright friendly. Blue, our silkie roo doesn't mind being held and will even snuggle up under our chins. Onyx, while not really cuddly anymore, will relax while being held.

Speaking on Onyx, I have the ayam cemani seperated and will start collecting eggs from them in about 2 weeks to give my stubborn broodies. I'm only going to keep them seperated for a little bit but if anyone would like some eggs, pm me!
