I haven't really had a problem with it but my feather legged girls are all under 4 months old. I just love my dark Brahma and the 5 light Brahma girls I sold apparently are all super sweet. I get texts and pics from the people that bought them. Haven't told hubby that we have new ones. He was kinda bumbed I sold the others l. We'll see how long till he notices. Its a fun game. Also got some of the "adopt me deal " no idea what they are. But should be fun finding out.

So today I heard crowing that was WAY too close...as in, 'inside the house' type of close. And I didn't even bother to go check it out. Was that wrong? Am I the only one that has this issue come up from time to time? I believe it is the combination of irresponsible kids and a couple-few too many birds.

I know this sounds bad, but in my defense I've only had the goats get in once or twice and have NEVER had a pig find it's way in (to the doorstep, but never inside).
I have a little Bantam rooster Snuggles that comes in every single time we leave the door open a crack and crows his head off lol.

We leave the door open some times for the dogs, and I have more than once been greeted by broodies (with chicks in tow) searching for goodies they know are somewhere in the human coop...

That actually brings up a question I have. Is it possible that my birds are smart enough to get me to give them more food then they need? They act like they're starving all the time but their gullets are bulging by 12. Today I had everyone of them following me across the yard! I caved and gave out a little scratch but I think I'm getting played. Even the ducks call for a treats every time I cross the bridge.

I totally think they are smart enough to do this! One of the most surprising things about owning chickens, for me, is how intelligent and full of personality they are. My ladies are well fed but they will chatter for treats (+roo flirts me up every time he sees a peach) or a trip to my garden all day long.hah

We were going to go with EE's but in one day, someone wiped Meyers out. SO. Back to the drawing board. Chicken boards. Whatever.

I have an EE who likes to go broody and currently is. I can hatch eggs for you if you want rather then having to go through hatchery. I live off 222 on the Lancaster/berks line.

Just need to find some hatching eggs!

We just ordered yesterday what is probably too many chickens but I'd love to keep you in mind for the Spring once I see how these babies do..? Do you have a flock of EE's? Pics of your broody girl!?

This is Tonks /Chauncey /****ing Lannister (excuse my language, but it's part of the name).
