I'm seriously considering getting some bantam ducks for pets and to produce ducklings to sell. Not calls, but something like Australian Spotted ducks. Do you think there would be much interest in very small ducks?

I know people in other states would be interested. And I’m sure they will sell like crazy when you bring them to the feed stores.
Feed store chicks create a stir, but you are right, ducklings steal the show every time. The bantam breeds are less trouble to house too. If I can find someone to collaborate with that can build and sell pens made for them, something like a large rabbit hutch with a large plastic pan for a pool, I bet they would be very popular pets. That's why I want to try them. I love to watch ducks playing in a pond, but the big ducks need a large pond and get it muddy so fast. If the pen had a wire floor with a recessed pond they could swim in, but no dirt to make the pond muddy, that would be perfect.

I set 33 eggs today! More than half of the girls aren't even laying right now. My incubator is going to be packed full this spring!

Look how big the quail are already too! All 3 with the newborn black silkie.

I'm sure there would be a lot of interest. Especially if someone was making pens for them.

Everyone stay safe tomorrow if you're in the path of the storm. They're saying 4-8inches here :/

Large dishpan with a plug in the bottom. :thumbsup
I was thinking more foot friendly. A ramp leading to a frame holding the pan on the ground.

I’m glad you aren’t getting a foot.

Waiting for spring.... :pop

So my broody is a couple of days away from hatching. Today or tomorrow was her original estimated hatch date, but since she had a couple days where she was off the nest, I suspect as will not see any action until Thursday at the earliest.

This morning while tending and feeding everyone, my broody did a freak out. I love when they do that! They fly off the nest screaming and flapping their wings like they’ve seen a ghost! She was only off about 10 minutes or so, so perhaps she knows it is imminent.

I will be keeping a close eye this week... and I will be sure to post pictures also!
