It was so nice out today and because I was home with a head cold, I was able to let the chicks out in grass today. They loved it! Even taking naps in the sun. I thought they might be chilled, they are just under 2 weeks old. But as you can see, they were exploring and having a blast.

Of course the snoopervisors have to inspect the new things...

My beautiful Biele rooster, with some baby Biele roos in the front, for comparison. My roo seems huge and I wonder if these roos will be as big.

Great pics! I hope you feel better soon though.

It really was a gorgeous day today. I wore myself out running around doing things outside. I scraped all the poop boards in both coops, I moved the young seramas (and their dad) out to the rabbit hutch to get some fresh air. I moved one of my breeding groups to the tractor in the yard for some fresh air and sunshine, cleaned the duck/goose pool, cleaned out all 3 brooders, straightened up the screen porch, and started cleaning out one of our bee hives to prepare it and bait it to hopefully trap a swarm in a month or so. Busy busy! So much more to do tomorrow too. It's definitely time to crash now!

Hooolyyy moley it's been a little bit. Good thing I didn't miss too much. Hello to our new person from me here in Berks County! @LeBlackbird also says hi since she's sitting right next to me as I type this. :p

So I managed to actually get a steal and a half yesterday. I bought a Brinsea Octagon 20 with a dozen of hatching eggs for $200! And the hatching eggs are 5 Black Copper Marans and the rest Bielfelders. These eggs are huge and beautiful! So if anyone wants any extras please let me know (the Marans I'm gonna keep unless I get a roo).

I'm down a few birds so hopefully the giant amount of chicks Susan's getting will help with that, lord knows there's gonna be a bunch more Ameraucanas. (Of course lol). I'll try to keep you guys posted on this hatch along, I'm super excited!

Just thought I'd say hi! I'm in ehe SE PA region, on the Philly/Bensalem border. I was reading the one of the girls gets pallets all the time. I'm definitely interested there. I've been searching through CL often to no avail. At least not less than a half hr away. IDK where in SE PA @Lelanae is, but I'll be keeping tabs for the next time you come across the free pallets. In the process of building my 1st coop/run but the rain has been a huge hindrance. Maybe a blessing by giving me more time to acquire the free materials. I know my chicks will arrive the wk of April 16th, and I don't like waiting to the last minute. It's been a pleasure reading backwards on this thread. (I don't think I'd get through 7k plus posts any time soon had I started from the beginning. Lol)

Welcome! I am located in berks, along with Dheltzel and fangedknight. There's tons of great people and good info throughout the history of this thread :)

They are lovely--how mean are geese? My mom has told me horror stories from her chilhood in Wisconsin. I am not sure what kind of geese her grandfather had--but it was back in the 1930s....

I've also had africans, and mine were great geese. Although every goose is a wild card when spring rolls around, especially the gentlemen

Thanks. I was dealing with both of my parents, or trying to. My mom had 2 mini strokes in February 2017 and Dad had 3 strains of lymphoma cancer discovered in early July 2017. Mom is almost completely recovered, but dad is still in bed and needs to be helped.

It's great to see you still around here troyer, although I am so sorry to hear about the health of your family. I wish for the best for your parents, from the bottom of my heart :hugs
