Remember when you came over to pick up your Splash Orp and I couldn’t sex them for sure at that time?...6 of the 8 I have left are cockerels. Please PLEASE tell me the one you left with is not all comb and wattles... I am scheduling the 6. cockerels for processing shortly. I don’t do it myself, but the place where I go is clean, quick and humane.
I had my doubts last week when she seemed awfully leggy, but she is looking pullet to me--very people oriented too! My son named her Grey Lady...I will see if I can post a picture this weekend of her and get your opinion. Thank you again for her --we really love her! (Even though I have to dig her out of a nest box each night and plop her on the roost! She and the babies I got from Dennis all like to pile into one nest box at night like teenagers in a phone booth or a VW bug--if anyone here is as old as I am and can remember that!)

I don't eat chicken, but I wish I could buy some for my family from someone here! Sometimes the supermarket stuff smells like bleach and factory farmed birds don't have very happy lives.

Farm raised chicken from one of us you say?!! I have two whole birds from my recent butcher waiting around down in the basement! They're between 2.5-3 lbs. each!

Also! The jackets are in! I didn't realize that the legs are the wrong color (that was our fault on the art because in the picture his legs are brown thanks to mud oops ) but otherwise it's beautiful!

(And of course there's a random Tucker paw lol!)
Anywhoodles, @LeBlackbird and I were washing birds last night, it was hilarious but everyone's looking a lot better. Thought Little Butt wasn't going to crow this morning.... boy was I wrong. :thThankfully he's the only one old enough to yell like that in the shop. If thunder was there I would've killed him by now omfg.

Needless to say I'm excited and nervous. Oh yeah and someone tried to scam me this morning. Yeeeaahh got an email from a "Brett Mccoy and Robin Walker" saying that they had a donation for me. Yeeeeaaahh okay. Immediately spammed that one. And it was on my farm email too!!

Ugh I hate people. Just glad the show's tomorrow. I'll be exhausted though since we have to leave at 5 am. :th

My father in law has a couple hens and 1 rooster that he has running around the family business. 2 or 3 hems hatched out peeps. On has 5 chicks and 1 has at least 12 chicks. They are free range chickens. I found 3 chicks in the on shed the roost in. They was cold and almost dead. I brought them home. 2 on the way got warm and started moving around good. So I put them with my on ebroody hen. Hoping she takes them. I have 1 still in the house to get warm.not sure if it will make it. He is in the warmest spot I can think of right now and that is in my shirt.

So the other day, be I came home from work to find that hubby had built me a double stacked brooder :) it's far from perfect but I love it just the same. He has access that a lot of free wood at work so these were practically free! The bottom is for really little babies since the heat lamp is much lower and time to is for older ones that don't need as much heat.

Today, we put together this one. It's a little bigger that a large dog crate. Again, made our of the free wood from work. We have the materials to make 1 more, slightly bigger than this one. This one will sit on top of the next one. These are for bigger groups or quarentine. Over the winter, they will house the Seramas and quail :)

Both setups still need a good paint job but that will come later. Right now, they need used lol
