Peeps are doing good. The hen I had them under did not want them so I put up a little pen for them. I not sure were the white came from. But I like the black spots on them.

Broodies are ruling the turkey coop right now. 3 hens are working together to raise the two poults that I gave them. So far so good!

And now, in the chicken coop, Ana has plopped herself down again. I figured it would be coming soon since she hasn't raised any babies for a couple months.

@Lelanae You are in berks co right? One of my hens has bumble foot and I’m going out of town for two weeks. Any interest in taking her in to treat her? I would pay. Let me know.
I am in Chester County --near the border of Delaware. I am leaving myself for a couple weeks in July, but message me if you still think I can help. I have never treated bumblefoot, before though.

Is it ok if 3 days before hatch day, mama has taken a few breaks from her brooding? She has gone right back to them and they were still warm. I guess time will tell.
Typical behavior that I seen in many years of broody hens is until the last 3 days, hens have been know to get off their eggs for an hour or so, and walk and eat and socialize. The last 3 days she won't move from the eggs. With summer temperatures in the 80s, one hour is no problem.

Speaking of broody birds, Aretha (Muscovy)is a confirmed broody. If there are any eggs of hers underneath her, they will be hinnies (not mule ducks). Regardless, I am letting her do this. I’m guessing it’s nature that keeps her from truly bonding with the Pekin (since offspring is sterile). A few babies should make her happy.

So I bought several Unsexed leghorns from TSC a few months ago. I couldn’t help myself, they were 3/$1! I’m pretty sure they are all female. When I raised them from chicks before, the differences were noticeable pretty quickly once they were about this size. Of course I’ll know for sure soon, but I’m pretty proud of myself so far!

Picture time! Looks like my CCL (from my neighbor, I don’t believe it’s from @dheltzel) has officially gone broody. I have 3 other broodies that need need breaking too.

The dogs are getting along so well. They have learned how to play together, but I have had to stop them lately since Maples leg is injured. I just love this pic of them, the look on my pit bulls face as she’s waiting to pounce!

Here is Ruby, another of my neighbors chickens. She has been such an excellent broody for the turkey chicks.

My poor little Cali Gray has this odd face wound that is swelling up. It has formed a little pocket in the crook of her beak. After taking this picture, I tried to clean it out the best I could and treat it with tea tree oil. It’s in such an awkward place though. Bumble face?

@gonehencrazy I am not in Berks, but I am in upper Bucks. I could help you over the phone also if you would like some help. Can you send me pics in a message so I can see how bad it is? Is she limping?
