Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Only about a foot of snow here. Though it often blows so much, it could be bare ground in one place, and a mountain in another.
The birds are happily roaming around in the coop. I tossed corn into various places. Not only to prevent fighting over one pile, but it will give them some excitement later when they find another kernel. I also shut the door again. If I don’t, snow and ice will get in the way of shutting it later.
I am saying, in a very boring way, that the birds aren’t too cold, and don’t need to be pampered. They can and have survived worse.

7"-8" here on our ridge, wind is rearranging it as it falls, so some places 2" and some drifts of 12+"... so normal mid winter occurance for us. The roads may not if been great over the past couple days but far from the 'snowmageddon' the weatherman hypers were talking up the last week. I am getting so tired of every little thing getting blown up into a major occurance just to give the news folks something to talk about. And unfortunately it isnt just weather that gets that treatment anymore :rant:confused:
What ever happened to sticking to facts rather than 'reporting' hype and speculation and then having to retract half of it later? Getting to the point that forecasts are about worthless anymore. I check a couple of online sources (NOAA and accuweather radar) and don't bother with the TV hype anymore.

:lau omgosh, you sound like me now!!..or I you....whenever I start talking about how these "people" on tv can be so wrong and still have a job...hahaha, DH tells me to let it go & figure it out for myself..and well, like you, that is just what I do. (Underground weather & Intellicast)
Tell you what, and in all honesty too, I don't know what THEY are looking at sometimes when their reports come on...:idunno.
I can't & do not watch news. It is too ridiculous and over sensationalized. Totally agree everything is the "worst" or the biggest or whatever..I am done with it is all i know.
We don't even watch "regular" television anymore, it is as bad as the news.
Canned laughter so we know when to laugh and everyone insulting each other to be funny, nope , not for me.
:lauoh boy..see, on a burning path already! hahaha
Hope everyone is doing well & staying warm!
Have fun in the snow:weeall.

I just got rid of Prime Video yesterday, and only have Netflix for movies and an occasional show. I mostly use Hulu now. Mostly old shows like I Love Lucy, and I did just finish watching the old Sabrina. :hit I love you, Harvey!

We are located just above you, was hoping you didn't get freezing rain junk that would impact your power.
We got a bit over a foot, it looks like it anyway.
Guess it depends on the spot..hahaha. We have drifting also, winds have been off & on heavy all day, but have become more steady as evening sets in. Hope those big heavy branches stay connected!

The birds didn't leave the coop at all today. Tended them in the afternoon, it was comfortable inside, no breezes/ drafts. Totally agree with the chickens not "needing" more than decent shelter (no drafts & ventilation), quality food, fresh water & attention (chicken checks/understanding god animal husbandry.) You all know the deal.
I put some EO's in their water to help with any hard-cold issues that may arise. Doing this also helps give the coop an "aroma therapy" thing too:gig...smells very nice. They were extremely happy when the corn bucket came in with me:ya...hahaha, they sure do have a lot to say at times.
Everyone was well behaved inside, there isn't too much of an issue with them picking on each other, even at feeding time...that happens to Cordon when she is raising the chicks we get in the spring.
It might be different this year though because we are down one barred rock and ever since Louise has been without a partner in crime (Thelma), the downright abuse they were putting on Cordon has ceased. Cordon still runs the other way when Louise get's near her.
Poor girl:(, she is a sweet heart of a chicken, beautiful BLRW, not to mention a great broody. Which to her benefit is keeping her from the freezer.:clap

We watch netflix for our movie time & swap movies with friends.
Like the Natgeo channel also. Try to have the most for the least, phone, internet, cable.
we have tried to do one without the other, but is just as expensive. Cable, phone, internet companies, are a racket!:rantIt is in truth, the second largest bill we have. Enough said.:caf
Ummmm, Bullchickie...why ya lookin' fer quail????
Just took the fur babes out..:hitthat is NO JOKE out there!! The thermom. is reading 10*, but that WIND!!..has to be below 0*
Be careful out there peeps.
