Got some seeds planted today. That is good for the soul for sure!
If all goes well, it will make for a good start to the garden.
We do purchase plants, but last year so much rain kept the squash, yellow & green, from producing much of anything.
It affected the eggplant too. Didn't get any:(.
So:
yellow squash
spaghetti squash
egg plant
cucumbers, just one type...can't believe I don't have any more seeds:idunno
tomato
watermelon(s), 3 types
cantaloupe
I think that is all right now...
the pumpkins & gourds have been doing well enough not to warrant starting early.
The rest will be bought plants, at least that is what it looks like at this point, but this is nature and nothing is guaranteed!
Just hoping we get some healthy plants from this. Makes it that much more worth it.
Gosh I do love getting dirt under my finger nails:love, lifts the spirits:yesss:.
Has anyone else started their little seeds of fun yet??

Oh, :he had an opportunity to try some goose eggs once, there was entire counter FULL of eggs..i didn't, now am kicking myself cause I have always wondered how good they were...:barnie.
I know of some Canadians that hang out by the water..do you think that will work;)...totally kidding!!:lol:

She hates caterpillars. She used to like snakes, but was talked out of it. :he

I haven’t started my seeds yet, and I’m not sure when I’m going to. Last year was so awful, I just don’t feel very enthusiastic. The weather was a factor, but SeedsNow sent me several duds. Nothing germinated in several, and only a few seeds in others.
 
I've had my seeds since January, but won't be starting them until next week, I still need to make space for my seedling heat mat and some LEDS. I'm also still collecting buckets for the garden since everything got washed out last year.

Second round dealing with baker creek, I'm hoping the weird colored fruits and veggies survive the rain
 
Sooooo... I feel like I have asked this before, but what are the pros & cons of having a wood shed vs a plastic shed? I am upgrading this year and not sure what kind to go with. I'm thinking plastic would be great cuz I can hose it off and sanitize when it gets super dirty. But will plastic be insulated enough for the chickens in winter? I'm thinking not, but how can I make it better insulated without putting in insulation and wood? Opinions please, thank you!!!
 
Plastic is less insulated, but it doesn’t have to be. Not really anyway.
Insulation can be straw in feed bags, attached to the wall. Duct tape might even work for that.
Twine stretched across the wall with straw behind it.
Water containers that will absorb daytime heat, and release it at night.

Thanks for the ideas! I thought about using straw for insulation, but figured the chickens would end up making a mess of it. However, putting it in feed bags, and securing to the wall somehow might work nicely! Do I need to worry about heat loss through the roof though?
