Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

@AnneInTheBurbs
So I spent yesterday making the round trip trek to the extreme SW Pa border for some fresh blood for the Silver Pencil flock. We lost the last rooster we had to a broken hip the winter of 17/18 so only had our White rock roosters and therefore ended up with mixed breed chicks last year. Not only did I get eggs for the current broodies I got a beautiful 1 yr old rooster to introduce to my 6 pencil hens to start getting pure pencil eggs again (I hope the hens cooperate! LOL).
So long story short.... I haven't forgotten and hope to get you some pure SPR by late summer.... As soon as we can complete integration and confirm fertility.

In the wilds of PA today...

not knowledgeable on the species of ducks, but the 'gray' one had a feather in it's mouth..maybe a female? They were beautiful in person.
Then we drove a bit further and a turkey was crossing the road...to get to the other side:lau..sorry, I had to do it!
It is the dark spot on the left side of the road...sorry pic is not better...had an older camera with us. Don't want to take the new one out & have it plop into the creek or something like that.

Spotted a few awesome wild flowers out there too! Would LOVE to have these growing in the yard:love
They were so thick in some places, you wouldn't want to walk for fear of stepping on them. Gorgeous nature, it smelled so good out there. The creeks are still very high & fast. *(see first pic), Makes for very difficult fishing. DH did catch two more for the freezer...so I am way behind now.
Totally cool with me though, just being out & in the woods...away from "things to do"..very good for the soul. We should all do this more.:D Whatever your bliss may be.

6 eggs today. Thought I was going to get #7 but Serena was just being cozy rather than producing.
There are still some of the yearling pups available. I'll deliver! If Fenris is any indication, they will be really good and smart dogs.
We have been getting 4 regularly now. They are really happy with the garden & yard freedom.

Came out to put kiddos on the bus and found 1 duckling dead in the feild. And missing 2 other ducklings. I am getting sick of these foxes.
x'2 on the sorry.
maybe live-trap?..understand you don't want to hear "alive", but there are other ways to 'redistribute'.;)

Looks like a beautiful place to spend time @LittleMissPurdy , glad you got to go out and enjoy it!
Thank you..
DH had to do some investigating on those ducks. When we first say them he called 'Merganser'...welp, he would be right.
There is a breeding pair back there on the creek..'Common Merganser'. Just hope they are able to find a peaceful place with fishing season happening.

really want to spend some time outside today, but that wind! & it is a bit chilly...hahaha, see what happens when we get a couple days in the 70's??!! I turn into a really big weenie!
great laundry day...I am going to find out how much I can loose from the lines in the wind today:barnie...it is always so much fun when the sheets get all wrapped around and your underwear is in the neighbors yard..
Okay, I have never had that happen, but that would be a little bit of a "hee-hee, I'll just take those back", kinda moment.:p
As long as nothing flies into the chicken area we are all-good:yesss:

I'm so sorry :( live traps are a great investment. Nobody said that whatever you catch has to leave the trap alive....

DH and I pulled out the log splitter this morning and split some old logs for about an hour. We didn't do them all but we got a nice chunk done :) it's not really windy here but it was a bit chilly this morning. Felt good in the sun though!
