not knowledgeable on the species of ducks, but the 'gray' one had a feather in it's mouth..maybe a female? They were beautiful in person.
Then we drove a bit further and a turkey was crossing the road...to get to the other side:lau..sorry, I had to do it!
It is the dark spot on the left side of the road...sorry pic is not better...had an older camera with us. Don't want to take the new one out & have it plop into the creek or something like that.

Spotted a few awesome wild flowers out there too! Would LOVE to have these growing in the yard:love
They were so thick in some places, you wouldn't want to walk for fear of stepping on them. Gorgeous nature, it smelled so good out there. The creeks are still very high & fast. *(see first pic), Makes for very difficult fishing. DH did catch two more for the freezer...so I am way behind now.
Totally cool with me though, just being out & in the woods...away from "things to do"..very good for the soul. We should all do this more.:D Whatever your bliss may be.

We have been getting 4 regularly now. They are really happy with the garden & yard freedom.

How beautiful! We went fishing on Trout opening day and hubby caught 5, I caught nothing  I would usually be upset, but I was really enjoying the weather and watching all the birds and ducks! I cannot wait for the lazy summer days :celebrate

Anyone seen turkeys show interest in their chickens? We have a group of turkeys that goes through out yard every day, and while our chicks where in the basement one of the Toms would stop and knock on the basement door. Since we moved the chicks outside to the run, though, they have been left alone.

Yep, we had a local wild tom who routinely tried to impress our Meaties one year.... funny to watch. Tom's have no sense when their hormones are in an uproar.

I'm so sorry :( live traps are a great investment. Nobody said that whatever you catch has to leave the trap alive....

DH and I pulled out the log splitter this morning and split some old logs for about an hour. We didn't do them all but we got a nice chunk done :) it's not really windy here but it was a bit chilly this morning. Felt good in the sun though!

The sunshine was nice. Had to put a fleece/sweater on when we were in the shade/carport.
"live" is open to interpretation...as in, the fox was "alive" when it walked into the trap...how it left was another story:oops:

We do not involve ourselves with 'opening day' anymore.
Too many unfortunate experiences brought about by ignorant-rude & outright dangerous individuals.:(..even when had our girls with us when they were little.
Not saying everyone out there is that way, obviously, but enough that we wait until after & with the way the weather has been...high/fast water, there will be plenty of fish left in the creek for weekday fisher-people like ourselves.:D
You will 'catch-up' to hubby in no time, sure of it!!:highfive:
I’ve forgotten how to garden. I even had to look up how to use a hoe. It’s going to be a long spring.
Just getting your hands in the dirt. It will all come back to you:hugs

:lauthat is funny...he just wanted to know when they can come out & play too.

We're not really doing much of a garden this year. The garlic we planted last fall is coming up, the Arctic kiwis survived the winter and are sprouting leaves. The blueberry bushes and raspberry bushes are getting leaves again. And the avocado pit that I started about 6 weeks ago is starting to grow. That's enough for this year. Maybe we'll grab a random tomato plant or something but that's about it.

DH made a 'above-ground' mulch bin. Will get picks ASAP.
We have direct mulched for years..well, forever..hahaha, but we just don't have the room in the garden for a huge hole & the pile of dirt beside it. Takes up at least two-rows that can be used for plants.
When it rains hard it can also fall into itself causing even more issues, so we have to change things up...guess that is what gardening is about anyway.:idunno
So, he has one up so far & had decide that two would be even better. We could use another one for the stuff that doesn't breakdown fast enough. Like: tree limbs, barberry branches, those cursed things:barnie, every time I even look at them I get thorns stuck in my poor fingers.:hitetc...
Going to start off the new bin with old mulch from the chicken run, :clap, how awesome is that?!...
I really need help..getting this excited over mulch mixed with chicken poo can not be normal:rolleyes:
Okay, off to start the day. Have a great one to all!:jumpy

I tried that whole plant your garlic in the fall way with absolutely no luck. Changing it up this year to spring planting has been great! Will have to get you an up to date pic of those things growing like mad!
It is very easy to overwhelm yourself with planting too much..hee-hee, do that every year. We do have to know & except what our limitations are for everything...still learning that the hard way:old. Those 'projects' can get out of control so quickly:hmm, do this- do that, geesh, why can't I move now...:th...
