You can keep skunks out of your coop or other outbuildings by hanging a bar of strong disinfectant or room deodorizer in the space.
I think building a cage with tight holes the chickens can’t stick their beaks in is best. It allows you to put it low enough for the skunk to really smell it.

Someone was a bad boy last night. Ask the porcupine and skunk. Neither is bad. I have him in the house resting, and the skunk stench is light (like he only walked through it). I will have to tackle it before he gets in my bed.

Were you not saying something about the dog is going to get sprayed "one of these days?"..Hope it isn't too bad for you.:hugs
We are having issues with feral cats...or cats that think everywhere BUT their homes is the place to be.
I am trying out moth balls this year...have tossed them were the cats/bears/skunks/possums & everything else comes in at/under/through.
We always have the pups on leash or tie-out, so they can't get into them.
The chickens do not have access either & Bug now knows what those little white 'balls' are and to leave them alone..she says they kinda smell good , but not 'good' enough to touch....kids!
That bear that had visited us as apparently went on a door to door campaign throughout the neighborhood. Some people were able to get a bit of video too.
Only fun time spent outside today was to take pictures.
Here is the mulch bin DH put together, he will be doing another for branches & such.

He will add swing-doors to the fronts later. Doesn't look too bad back there. Won't even be able to see it once the garden is full.
Garlic is doing great.
Love to see everything come to life.

The girls really wanted out today. They were not happy with me.

Yeah, I did just mention skunks. :he
You aren’t gonna believe this, but mothballs are illegal. :rant Yup, I found out just in time myself. Cats eat them, and die. You are putting poison where a domestic(ated) animal can get it.
You can put it inside something though. I think socks work.

welp..my bad
will remedy the situation then...okay, just googled...well what the ****...it is illegal to use them in a manner not indicated on package..oh, and by the way..the package you just bought from a store, "might" be an illegal bag of moth balls...this is so friggin' nuts.
you really can't make this stuff up...honestly...I need to find hole.:old
Funny about the whole thing is it was an "oldie timer" that had suggested using them.
For as much of an "issue" they are now saying they are, sure didn't mean anything to just about every flipping older-adult person I grew up with, their houses all day, every day smelled of those things. They put them every where!! Still do!!
I remember moth-"cakes" hanging in closets for Petesakes!!
Whatever..i'll fix it so I'm not hung up on the flag pole.
Thank you for the heads-up .:)
