Anyone here interested in some free "spent hens"? I'm replacing some of my breeders this year. I was planning to release them to free-range on the farm, but some might be of interest to people here. Farm is near Pottstown.
Cream Legbars, about 30 hens, 5 roos
Copper Marans - Trio
Breda Fowl - I think 6 hens and 2 roos

I would LOVE a legbar hen! Emailing you!

I love this big orpington boy, he's huge! He towers over all the other chickens.

Somehow, he managed to get his big butt in to the old quail hutch and thought it was a great place for the ladies lay their eggs. Last I saw, he was in there again with a big orpington hen, showing her the perfect place that he found lol. We'll see if there's any eggs there later!

I’m moving back to Pennsylvania in about 6 months. Can’t be away from family any longer.
Ok for coops do wooden work better than plastic type. I plan on buying a shed and making it into a coop.
Second what preditors do o need to secure for in south central Pa (York) county?

Thank you.

Wood is definitely better for making adjustments. Slap down some linoleum*, and you can have easier cleanup.
Your predators are everything. Hawks, eagles, owls, possum, skunk, raccoon, bear, fox, snake... Get hardware cloth, and complicated locks.

* Look for ugly stuff or odds and ends left over from jobs. It’s not about the color, just the cost. Put it up the wall too.
