I hate to be the one to say this, Chet, but it might be a little difficult for us to help if you’re still in WV. We’re all in PA on this thread. Did you try the WV thread? How far are you willing to travel? If you already considered these things, chalk this up to a “duh” moment and feel free to ignore.Good luck in your search for Mr. Right-duck.
Hey, lookie folks! My 5/21 hatchlings are growing so fast, I had to build them a new brooder!
View attachment 2190413God bless and forever thank yous to the Walmart stocker who let me take all those cardboard boxes!Just try to get a refrigerator box from Lowes anymore, they never have them and they are RUDE! My bitties are SO happy to have some room to run around, and tomorrow they get to learn about sand-bathing!
They are feathering out so fast! It’s awesome!

I always love watching chicks grow up, but it makes SUCH a difference when you hatch them yourself! Thank you Jesus!❤✝
On top of that, my barred Cochin, Maggie, FINALLY committed to brooding about 2 weeks ago. She usually sits for a day or 2 then drops it. This time she means business. She only has 2 eggs, a Marans and an Easter Egger, both with my Easter Egger roo. We’ll see how she does. Problem is, NONE of the girls are laying normally because of this one broody. I only got 4 eggs yesterday from 11 hens! (Sigh) This too shall pass. I’m really looking forward to seeing how Maggie does as a Mom.![]()
